did you know that you can communicate things without actually saying them?

Your unwillingness to engage in intelligent discourse with others, and blaming it on them is why I said you are calling people ignorant. You're implying that they are not worth your time because their opinions are different from your own. If you feel attacked or think this was a heated thread, then this is probably the first time in your life you've actually discussed politics, or any important issues, with other educated people that might have different ideas than your own. This is like a 2 on a scale of 1-50 lol.
Good hell. I said I was done because I was sick of typing about it. And I never blamed anything on anyone. I was just over it. I said that nobody was going to change anybody's opinion so debate was pointless (I wrote it that way to include myself). I did not say that you guys were not worth my time because I cannot change your opinion. Stop trying to make me look like an asshole.
as for the 'jeep' vs '4 wheeling' thing. Do you want to discuss and/or argue the semantics of your post or the actual issue at hand? I'm actually cool with either, it's just good to know before hand what we are talking about.
You can't be serious? You started that one.

How come Palin was saying that McCain knows how to win wars? Didn't he get shot down and spent the rest of the war as a POW? That's not winning to me

Yes I have looked at it plenty. . . . . .

I just deleted 3 paragraphs because I'm done debating this crap with you guys. Nobody is changing anybody's minds here. Things can be hashed out a million times and nobody will change their stance.

I'm out.
Have fun.

If you haven't been called names on here by Cody, Tacoma, and maybe Brett and James K, then you can't be a part of the group. I don't understand why you would think you would change any one's mind with this conversation, on this board. I laughed at the last election with Kerry and Bush, and every other election that has been discussed, because the candidate's stand on guns and land use will win them the support of the majority on this board. I like Obama, and I like to post up political stuff here to get the viewpoints of the people on this board. And I think I know what to expect most of the time, and I don't get offended by the responses. I find it fun. As much as I disagree with people, I usaully find the conversation interesting, and i have changed my mind on a few things because of information that was pointed out that I did not hear elsewhere.

You shouldn't be so closed minded then. My opinions are not formed in stone, and I can't talk intelligently about all the issues of this election so it's good for me to hear both sides of the coin. I guess with my current level of understanding, I'm at a disadvantage to you given yours.

No, I started talking about specific environmental initiatives that will be directly impacted by this election. You said that Obama didn't say he wanted to take away our 4 wheelin (I misquoted you by saying jeep, which apparently was more of an issue to you than the actual issue), and now we are here. If you think that the democrats won't quickly seek to make good on the promises that were associated with the MAJOR contributions that were made by 'environmental' organizations, then you are in the dark.

I'm very passionate about land use, as should anybody who is on this board and enjoys mixed use outdoor recreation, and at times that passion leads me to vote for a candidate that I might otherwise not have voted for. I hate the republican position on abortion, stem cell research, gay marriage, and the role of religion but I'm not as passionate about those issues as I am the environment.

I don't call people names. I make lots of jokes at other people's expense, but that's just because it makes me feel better about myself.

Just to get the record straight ;)

I don't consider myself close minded, or have a party affiliation or anything like that. My political picks are based off of what person I think will be the best in office. Crap, I would probably have voted for Ron Paul if he made it to this point.

I thought you were being an ass and trying to pick apart what I said. Any discussion about the Jeep and 4 wheeling thing should have never happened.

Well I guess that is where we are really different. At a time like this I would pick who I think will save the country, not save my hobby (if you think he will do both, great). Being very passionate about something is awesome, but I still don't think that Obama is going to try to shut down our land.

I am very passionate about MMA. Training and fighting has been my main focus for nearly ten years. But if we were in a time like this, and one candidate looked like they were going to keep bringing us down, and I believed that the other would pull us out but he has been known to dislike MMA, I would still vote for him.

This is the best thread ever.
If you'd posted The big "O" was a piece of **** you'd get some of the same replies from the same people.
Everyone here is pretty fair, you just can't start flaming some one for a interview that gets choped in the cutting room.
Katie is not trying to get you to like Palin.

If I was the Mac I'd tap her to. A couple of times.:):)

It's not necessarily my hobby, it's my lifestyle. I spend a lot of time in the outdoors and if I can no longer do that then there is no longer any reason for me to be here in Utah. So, I think that it would be a pretty significant impact on my life if the dem house/senate/congress and executive branch slip the ARWA into effect right under our noses, which I think is worthy of my vote. If you think our dual party system sucks, well if a Dem is in the Oval Office then we now have a one party system essentially.

Besides, all of the issues involving our country are tied together. Environmental policy deals with energy exploration, and our economy--especially recently--is heavily impacted by energy and raw fuel. When oil prices (for a lot of reasons that we don't have time to get into here) go up, people panic and the market goes down....people have less money to pay for their credit card debt and 3/5 year ARM's so banks fail etc etc......it's all one big system of interrelated issues, but environmental policy is big and I promise it will be line item 1b (1a being iraq--which is a major economic catalystl) for addressing our economic problems.
