It doesn't matter if you like her or not I think it was a brilliant move by McCain. If he would have picked a White good old boy republican he wouldn't have a prayer. :hickey:

"...I tell ya how you can solve this abortion issue right now. Ready? Those unwanted babies that single moms leave in alleys and in dumpsters? Leave about 12 of those on the steps of The Supreme Court. This is over. Like that. 'You guys said we had to have them? Then you guys...F***ING RAISE 'EM. Raise 'em then, you f***ing raise 'em. YOU raise 'em. You said I had to have it? Then it's yours. F**k. It's yours..Take it.'”

I haven't heard either of the two say anything about taking your guns away or your 4wheeling.

But the big thing is the comment about keeping more of your paycheck with McCain in office. Good luck with that unless you make a ton of cash already.

And have you guys ever looked into getting your own insurance (not through your employer)? I have, and it is garbage coverage and costs a ton more. So you might be right, you will keep a little more from your check because there is no insurance coming out, but you will pay 3x as much for garbage private insurance.

Yes, Obama is giving 'middle class' a tax break, but he's giving everyone above $250k a tax hike to cover that. With that tax hike he's going to fund several social programs - healthcare is one of them.

Now I have several issues with that and I'll break them down by category

1 - I don't want federal run healthcare telling me what qualifies as healthcare - my grand parents already have this and theirs sucks.

2 - this is just another way for the fed's to get into my bedroom and try to control my life. Another issue I am against.

3 - raising taxes on everyone else but middle class, will drive operating costs higher than they are now causing jobs to be lost, companies to leave the country at an even higher rate, prices to go up even more.

4 - Obama's plan will work for a few years, but then it will blow up - look at Venezuala's economy. The same thing happened there. They had a huge surplus of cash, so they started social programs. The social programs used it all up and now they're hurting.

McCain isn't raising taxes and he's giving you a credit to get your own healthcare. IMO it's all about doing for yourself for a change and stop requiring the government (or someone else) take care of you. Some people want the government to care for them; some even demand it. I for one would like less government, less taxes, and little to no social programs.

So, how much healthcare do you think you'll get for a $5000.00 tax credit?

You better Google this guy's phone number if you're okay with a $5000.00 healthcare plan. He's all you'll get!

I hear Obama preaching "middle class, middle class" but his record to date is helping the poor and those on welfare. Not that those people don't need help, but there are too many of them that prefer to sit back and wait for help instead of helping themselves. Now they'll be able to sit home and get free health care too. Talk about a free ride at the tax payers expense.

My thoughts on this is that the government doesn't owe me health care or anything else. Seeing as how everything the government gives me I pay for plus the overhead, I'd prefer to receive as little as possible from them! Wayne's statement above (esp. the bold part) sums up my attitude towards all government pretty well.

Again, what kind of healthcare do you think you'll get for a $5000.00 tax credit?

My wife and I can self insure for far less than $5k per year. When I was single I was paying $105 a month, married we are ~$290/month. It has a higher deductible but we thankfully haven't used much in the way medical insurance in the past.

I can see if you have a family things might get more expensive, but my brother insures his wife and two boys for ~$600/month, thats only a few hundy out of pocket from the $5k credit.

The kind I would be better off without. The kind that will end up costing me $8000.00 because of all the government "overhead." The kind that creates govt. dependence rather than personal independence and accountability.

The same goes for obama's plan times 100.

Honestly, I don't care - just another way of asking the government to care for you because you don't want to do it yourself. I don't want the government providing it - PERIOD!!! As a small business owner, both Kurt and I are in the same position. We have to come up with our own medical care, retirement, unemployment insurance, etc. I think every other AMERICAN should do the same. Start working for what you want/need and stop expecting other people to cover you.

I understand some people can not provide for themselves; but that is a very small percentage. Most people getting hand outs don't need them and can provide for themselves but are just too frickin' lazy.

He just gave you $5k and you want more... You are how old? And have to provide this for yourself how many years? I'm sure your speaking hypotheticals, as you most likely have insurance through your employer...?

A $5000 credit would pay for a lot of health insurance.

My wife and I can self insure for far less than $5k per year. When I was single I was paying $105 a month, married we are ~$290/month. It has a higher deductible but we thankfully haven't used much in the way medical insurance in the past.

Maybe if people had to start paying for their own healthcare, they wouldn't be 'sick' so much....

My wife has all kinds of health issues (lupus, arthritis, lung problems), and I don't think the bills total up to much more than $5k a year - not what we pay, the bills total. I don't think I've spent $5k in 5 years on myself.

So I personally think $5k is very generous... Plus, you can decide on what plan you want yourself instead of the govt. TELLING you what you will get.

These political discussions on a offroad forum are completely moot (ironic that this thread is getting more views than most land use threads).

Neither party is going to consider what is truly best for their core constituents. Anyone who thinks otherwise, is fooling themselves. Follow the money and you'll see what an administrations agenda will be. That has been pretty clear over the last eight years.

At the dawn of man, i'm sure there were wide-eyed cavemen gathered around some moron promising to bring fire to every home. it will never change
