Parts Bins Opinions

My next "Stay Home, Stay Safe" project is organizing all my miscellaneous nuts, bolt, screws, washers, etc, etc. Since I've been renting up till this place, I always kept them in tackle/craft boxes so when I moved to the next place, they'd be easy to move. But now that I have my own garage, I want to install some parts bins above my work bench.
I'm debating between some of these louvered panels with hanging bins and your standard cabinet/drawer type set up. But I was curious about what everyone else has done.

I'm no help, but that's a good project. I've been wanting get a thread checker and sort out my Bucket Of Old Bolts. I guess now is the time.

I bought these HF parts bins that lock and I'm really happy with them. I have too much dust and an open bin like you linked would get filled up with crap. I also feel like I'd knock those over and then have to pick everything up off the floor. I built a little wall rack to house a bunch of the bins I linked. I'll try and find a picture to post to show it but I label the front of the bins and try and keep like items together.

If your anything like me you have 1,000 different types of hardware but only 5 of each type. I feel like small bins are the way to go so you don’t start to compromise your organization.

If you have the space, hold out for some old index card bins or retired hardware store bins.

I picked up a few like this from RME last year: https://www.homedepot.com/p/OLYMPIA...mplete-Kit-Red-and-Black-90-800-220/203513621
Those are pretty slick! Pricey, though.

I'm a bit limited in space, otherwise I'd be all over old index card bins. There are a couple full height ones up at University surplus right now (or, before the world ended, anyway).

I have 1 each of the below. They come with drawer dividers so you can split drawers into smaller areas if you want.

I like that the drawers are easy to remove so you can pull a bin of screws out and take them to wherever you are doing a project.

I’m looking for something that’s labeled on the outside of each bin for quick reference. Otherwise, your setup looks fantastic.
Unless you are going to create a comprehensive “stock on hand” you will always be changing what you do and do not keep around. If you have permanent labels then you will end up with empty spaces reserved for a specific item. If you can change labels (like with a label maker) then you can re-arrange as needed.
