I have this posted over at LOST already and have people interested in this event.

Most people coming are from out of state and will be arriving in MOAB on 5/24 for the big dinner at Pasta Jays. I already have the permit letters and the sites reserved but I only have 2 spots open on MY back country permits. I'm not going to be all lame and try to dictate who and how many can come... that's the NPS job.

We're going to have fun and see some cool stuff... I might even have my trailer done for this event. Let me know if your interested.

Here's an FAQ video mostly geared towards LOST with honorable mention of our FJ peeps: FAQ

Peace.

I guess I don't understand what Pastafari is. You're driving into Moab, then all the way back around to get to the Maze?

Are you saying you don't really care how many people come to the sites you have reserved and that it is the NPS' job of enforcing their rules?

Is there some other Libby event going on in Moab that weekend or are you just meeting there for dinner? If most are coming across I70 or down from SLC then you would be better off doing dinner in Green River or Hanksville and saving you that extra travel time down to Moab, I mean Pasta Jays is good and all but its not a couple hours out of the way good imo. You say your going to the 'Ranger Station' but also going to Hanksville? Are you planning to gas up there and enter the Maze via Poison Springs to the south or back track north again to the Hans Flat turnoff and go to the Hans Flat Ranger Station?

I'll dodge the Maze that weekend, I'd hate to run into a fleet of KJ's blocking the trail, all with tons of crap piled on the roof ;)

No... I can't control how many people come since there's open access to the trails but I only have two open spots on my back country permit. There have been trips posted in which the poster has dictated who and how many people can come. I can't post a trip and tell people they are not allowed in the maze district just because I have a permit.

We have peeps from KS, CO and IL but no one from UT except for me. Usually, there's a LOST Jeep Safari traditionally the week after EJS but this year the powers that be had no interest in putting one on. So a friend and I created "Pastafari" and picked the dates that the "core" people could attend.

The comment about FJ is from LJS 2009 which was in CO and happened to fall on the FJ event. When we got to Black Bear there was a group of 20 or so FJs spotting each other around every turn. They were causing a HUGE traffic jam and would not let anyone pass.

It was at the event that I got the photo I posted of the FJ with the "I do understand..." sticker being winched over an obstacle by a KJ... good times.

So anyone that wants to come can meet us at the ranger station on 5/25. We have to go to the ranger station to check in and get the actual permit since the letters I have reserve the permit but is not one in itself.

Copy that, I'd have pasta at Ray's in GR and hit dirt from GR all the way to Hans Flat to pick up your permits. That way you can do Horseshoe on the way south if anyone is planning the Gallery hike. There is open camping in the vicinity of Horseshoe with lots to check out in the area.

Doesn't bother me ;)

Words of wisdom. Horseshoe is the 'bee's knees', 'the shit', 'the bomb', 'orgasmo', etc.

Right. It would be a long day to drive all the way into the maze and then have to drive all the way back out. You may want to point people in the direction of the NPS so they can reserve their own spots possibly.

They'll take license plates at the rangers station, and I'd say the odds are a lot better than 50/50 that you'll see a ranger come by the camp to check on you.

It'll be a cool trip. Have fun

Yes and if there are two rigs who want to come with us on my open permit spots, let me know for sure and where you'd like to meet us. Due to the size of our group we're splitting up to multiple sites each night. We have all sites locked in including all 3 sites at Dollhouse (not the infamous Ft Lauderdale strip club).
