I'd say you've got the rule of thirds down. Good composition. Some of the subjects don't appeal to me much, though.

Just playing around.....no class or anything. Yeah, some of the stuff was just, eh, I'll shoot a pic. I'm going to go out again tonight I think, see if I can find some more things. Just not sure where to go!

There is so much to take pictures of around SLC. Head up to the Avenues...
Pretty easy pickin's up there for architectural stuff, of course. City Creek is probably kind of crappy looking still... but usually has some nice subjects.

...and now, I have to make another post, because I have forgotten to. Stay tuned.

I meant it would be a better pic if the chopper wasn't... chopped.

Or, if it was chopped a little more. It's kind of awkward right where it is, and I do understand that you may not have had an option. :D

Are you meaning the blades? How the right side is cut off?

EDIT: NM, it's not cut off......I don't get it

I was talking about the fuselage. If that were just a little higher or lower I think it would look a lot better. As it is, the concrete wall kind of cuts it off in a less pleasing manner than you could have.

We should get together sometime and talk about composition. I want The Pie.

I don't like the reflection of the flag pole in the window. I think if the flag was all reflected in the window it would look better. Hope that is what you were looking for. I can't tell you what kind of lens you are using.

Ah, I get what you mean now. I "think" that I could get a higher shot. I'd have to drive back up to the U and look to be sure.

The Pie.....haven't been there in a while

Do you mean, have the entire flag, pole and all, showing in the reflection? Not just the top like it is now?

That lens was a 55-200mm.........

Well, let's freakin' go. I'm in Vernal for one more week, if you're free next Friday, say the word.

With all the gray in the chopper photo I would try to play that up. desaturate the image to a near b/w and maybe pop the red cross with a mask and some higher saturation. I would also crop the image so the pipes and lower structure are gone. The focus needs to be on the chopper itself. The concrete would make a nice hefty weight for the bottom of the shot. As it is your eye searches for the main subject.

Correct for perspective on the flag shot. The lines all need to run at 90's.

Do the same on Ray's shot.
