Possible stoopid question

I am trying to clock down my d300 to help some with the front driveline angle. I redrilled the doubler adapter no sweat, but now my old tranny mount/x-member will not work. How risky do you think it is to use the stock tranny mount and hang the 203/300 combo off the back?

Here is a pic the white line is where I am thinking of putting the new Xmember, tranny mount? Planning on running poly bushing on the ends of the Xmember.

I know the red foot is better, but how bad is this?

What trans do you have? I broke the tailhousing off my TH350 hanging the Toy Tcase off the back with no support--no way would I trust it with a 203/300. BUT, if you have a cast-iron manual trans, I might risk it.....

Naw no such luck...TF727. But stock they hung a 203 behind it, I dont remember just how long a 203 is stock, but it seems like the 203/300 is about the same length. Plus a D300 only weighs ~75 lbs.

Mostly I was just kidding myself. I think I will clock the D300 back up and buck up the cash for a 1410 shaft.

How long is your shaft going to be?

I was going to say you might have driveline clearance issues if you put it back in the original position. I would go for your second option. :D Bigger is better.

Have someone bend some tube and make a new crossmember that matches your new mounting points.

bending tube is not the issue. ;)

As for the DL clearance, it looks like I could make it work, between the doubler and the stretch front it might've worked but I don't want to risk busting the tailhousing.:(

The only downside with 1410s is it will make the weak point the tranny output. Not exactly a trail fix, but I guess if I am busting that I am doing something wrong.

Anyone know if an NP205 32 spline 1410 yoke will work on a D300 32 spline output?
