Ok so i think its time to start a build thread. I have to opportunity to run and test out the new "69" axles from JRAT Offroad!

What i had!
Front Dodge Dana 60
Front 3 link
5.13 gears and spool
Rear
Rear corp 14 bolt
4 link
5.13 detroit

My direction is to start racing this car in some 4400 class races. Before it was set up to mainly rock crawl. I only had 4 inches of up travel.

What is going in
front Jrat "69" (drop out dana 60)
front 3 link
Yukon 5.38 and spool
Reid inner c's and knuckles and brass bushings
Yukon 4340 crommoly shafts and super joints
Rear
Jrat "69" ( drop out dana 60)
Yukon 5.38 and spool
Yukon 4340 cromo shafts

So this is how it sat when she was pulled into the shop to start the overhaul!

We decided we couldn't make the new axle's fit with the existing front end so it had to come off!

The rear went in a lot easier than the front. Just had to build axle brackets and re mount shocks and build new air bump can mounts. I have a lot of pictures of brackets and stuff so i will get all of this caught up. Im not very good at doing these build post as i go! Also this is what one of the drop outs look like!

Invisible, on purpose!
Forgive my ignorance but, why a spool in the front?? :rolleyes:I don't know what 4400 series racing is, I'm assuming its along the lines of rock racing or desert racing or a combination of both, like The King Of the Hammers, yes-no??
It seems to me that any kind of racing is going to require good steering manners, except maybe mud bogging or sand drags!:handlebars:

BTW: Those axles are waaaay coool!!:cool: Looking forward to more info & pics on those bad boys!:D:D

Why not? Full hydro eliminates most of the "bad steering manners".

I can't believe how tight that front end is!! but it's clean, and sweeet! The housings are beautiful and it is GREAT to see these diffs in the flesh. I've been pretty stoked about them for a while now, give 'em hell!!

Stoked to see this rig getting done. :D

This is correct! Deweyxj i thought the same thing for awhile but with hydro you cant really tell and this will be the strongest way to run.If a tire stops turning you know something is wrong. Not the locker is just not working.(one less thing to go wrong)
If this was a comp Rock crawl car i would want something selectable to maneuver around cones.

I would guess spools because there's no "broken" to them.
Reliability is #1 in 4400 class racing.

high speed stuff you put the Atlas in 2wd.

a few more updated pics. Had to build some new mounts to move the steering pump to clear the 3 link and also had to put a bend in the 3 link.
The front is definitely tight but its going to work good. ( i hope ) Also built a new fuel pick up in the fuel cell. I got some plastic pickups from wide open design. They are designed if they lose fuel and get air they close off and the one that still has fuel keeps sucking. Also got some new stuff from Reid. If you are thinking of getting new knuckles are c's i highly suggest going to Reid. They are top notch and you cant beet there product!

Also have to say if your in the market for a winch you should really look into Bull Dog. They have a great winch! Here is how it sits today. Everything cycled good only had to notch out the frame in one spot!
