Well the slow season at my shop ended with January and I've been having a hard time finding much free time lately to work on my project but here's an update of whats been happening

The suspension is finalized and it rolls and steers, this shot is at full compression

After finally putting my link set up thru a link calculator I found I needed more vertical separation at the frame, but since the exhaust and driveline were in the way on the passenger side I moved it over to the driver's side. Thanks to 4rnrRick on Pirate for the inspiration here.

As far as the rear lower link mounts, yes they weren't quite lined up here's how they look now

Here's a shot of the rear truss skeleton and you can also see the rear suck down winch pulley mount and center limit strap mount

Ok I got started on trussing up the rear axle, I got all the cardboard templates cut out in steel yesterday but don't have a pic of the center stuff yet and none of it is welded yet either

I ditched the factory a/c compressor (in favor of a future Viair or arb compressor and tank) and replaced it with the front 3000# suck down winch.
I Got the front suspension compression winch mounted and added a rubber tie-down and carribeaner (sp?) to keep tension on the cable when it's loose.

Here's a shot of the front shock tower brace I had to put a 10* bend in it to clear the motor and to keep it low to clear the hood.

Here's the rear shock tower brace, I also tied the shock towers into the fender tubes with this 3/16 plate.

Looks good. I would feel better if the cable for the suck down winch was different. What about some type of tube mount whre the cable goes down the tube, with a pulley at the end. Axle then down to the axle?

I thought about running the cable thru a tube but I don't have a small tubing die and I don't really have anywhere to mount the tube too.

There is a pulley on the axle however, so the cable isn't grinding against anything and actually works quite well. I'm supprized at how much stronger the front 3k winch is compared to the rear 2k one, even with a full spool of cable on it (I plan on running only one or two wraps of cable to make the winch more effective) lukily though they have the same mounting bolt pattern so if the 2k isn't enough I can easily swap it out for a 3k one.
