Looks good, did you use a 3500lb axle or a 1000lb axle?
That is all iam waiting on with mine well plus jeep wheels.

I got a 3500lb axle from Henderson with 6-5.5" pattern to match the Toyota pattern, that way I have plenty of spares...

I don't see any hitch weight. After you load it full of say 600lbs of junk (or trail needed stuff like shawn partially said)[a microwave??????????] Then it will want to walk right off your truck. Look into it its a safety thing....

Please explain "walking of my truck"?

Are you referring to "tongue" weight?

When empty it has about 50lbs of tongue qeight, but that will surely increas as the trailer is loaded (it will never have 600lbs in it, more like 250 lbs)...

A microwave is a trail needed item ;)

Nice twisty. What kind of hitch? (musta missed that post)

I'm guessing you've done a free-body and the statics and designed 10-20% of the weight to be on the hitch. Wow, already 50lbs, that's at least 20% if the trailer is 250lbs. 'course, as light as it is, it won't really affect handling no matter how it's loaded.

I was hoping to get some paint on it today, but we went out on "Ultimate Adventure 04' #3" last night... :D

Damn. I missed out on an ultimate get-smashed and drive to the middle of nowhere adventure...? I have got to get my dumbarse back down there. I'd come today if I had a place to live and work...

As to the trailer, Kurt I gotta admit, I was a little worried it might turn out gay. I've seen a few over the years that people have built out of jeep and cruiser tubs and they've been super ugly and gay lookin', but I gotta say, that thing or yours has turned out fantastic. Just don't go stickin' a frickin' bezel on the damn front of it... :ugh:

Is a free body diagram and all the calculations really needed on such a small trailer? It looks like how you load it is going to make a big difference on the weight.

   it was a joke

ok, a half joke, I did figure he'd have done them.

Actually, I have the free-diagram set up... but statics is for Civil "Dirt" Engineers.... I am going to do the Dynamic reactions at the axle, make sure I have no axle-wrap problems... :D

Ok, and where are you in the program???

Um, mechs do their fair share of statics and strengths...even more so than civ's. It all starts with statics, that's the base.

Brett (I play a civ on TV...it pays the bills)

I am taking my last 3 class's for my associates, and just got accepted to the U's program...

I am taking Dynamics II right now... :D

I actually like Statics myself, I was just following the setiment of our Dynamics professor... on day one of Dynamics I he had all the civil students raise their hands...

He then told them..
"Do you know why you are taking this class?"

He then replied...
"So you know, that you don't know... if it doesn't equal zero, call a Mechanical Engineer"

:D

Another good one was our Manufacturing instructor. We were discussing the units of tolerance, when he said, "the mech. eng. unit of tolerance is the thousanth of an inch... the civil eng. unit, is about five feet" :D

very nice. Ya, I loved dynamics, that's what my emphasis was, I just kept taking dynamics classes. Haven't used them at all, but I still liked them.

congrats on getting accepted.
