Yea tounge weight. But I guess that it would be true apon how you load the trailer, how it acts getting towed. I see that when it is empty that it sits level with your rig. If you loaded say an axle in the back of it it would want to "walk off" your hitch. Or it would sway horizontally on it's axis when loaded. Just make sure to make the heavy stuff (like the kegs) sit to the front and the microwave and cheeto's in the rear when loaded.

This is a trail trailer not a utility trailer... :D

It should be fine, I wish there were some tonque relation specs online somewhere (I havn't really searched) but I have all the dims. of the trailer as well as the FBD... ;)

Anyone have a good idea for a trailer jack?

I don't need one that will raise/lower the trailer (as one guy can easily do that)... just something that will keep the front end up while unhooked from the Cruiser...

I don't want it mounted on the bottom (get riped off on rocks)...

I don't want it attatched to the side (can't jack-knife the trailer, it would hit my Cruiser)...

So I am thinking of something that attatches to the bottom (mabey inserts into a sleeve) but then stores on the top of the tonque, out of harms way...

Any good ideas?

Do it like the one on my trailer, it pivots and is held in with a pin. Pivots 90 degrees. Held in the up, horizontal position (parallel with tongue) and down, vertical position (perp to tongue). Best trailer jack design I've seen, keeps the jack from getting creamed, and you don't spend an hour twirling the thing up and out of the way. You don't need the jack part, so it makes it even easier. Come down and look at it, my digi cam is toast.

I know the exact jack you are refering to, it is my first choice if I can't find something else. They sell the weld-on brackets for pretty cheap, and they include the huge snag-ring to hold jack on...

The only reason I don't want to run that style (or any rigid mount) is because it will limit the angle that the trailer can go with respect to my Cruiser... as of right now, the trailer can go 90+ degrees, if I add a jack on the side, that side will not be able to go that far before interference occurs....

What is the rough width of the jack? (from side of tonque to furthest side of jack)... I am guessing somewhere in the 4" range?

Put a short section of receiver tube in the tongue, and make a lightweight foot for it using 2x2 for the "leg". Drill one hole in it, or more for adjustable height if you want to.

When you're on the trail, take it out and reinsert it upside down in the same receiver tube, so it sticks up instead of down. Make sense?

Yup, that makes total sense, I think that is essentially what I am going to do, but probably with some 1.5" roung tube rather than 2" (wieght, and tongue is under 3" wide)

Rather than have it store on top, I am going to make it store in the horizontal position so that I can fold down my tailgate with the trailer attatched...

What would a 2' length of 1.5" DOM cost? Do you have a size that it will slide into? 1.75" w/.125" wall?

Thanks!

Yup, I've got 'em both. You're looking at probably $5 worth of materials though....can ya handle that? :p

(also, it's 1.75" .120 wall---gives you 10 thousandths of room, so you can actually get the tube in there. .125 wall would make it an interference fit....)

I'm plan on stopping by sometime tomorrow, I will get some rough measurments put together... that should be stellar... out of the way and stable... Now just to design someking of base for the trailer (probably just a 4"x4" piece of plate)

This thing is coming together... got my lights, water tank and jack lined up. Now I just need more bodywork, paint and build a tailgate...

If I feel like tossing another $200 into it, I could have an onboard SS sink... :D

Got the air tank (thanks Bryson T)

Got the Cruiser tailights today (Thanks a million Clay!)

Got the water tank today (Thanks again Clay!)

Got the propane holder cut today (metal ring)

So this weekend should see some major improvments...

That looks BADA$$. Will look better with paint too!!!
I didn't see an answer on what type of hitch you used. What type works best for all the twisting it's going to do? Also, what is that you used for the top? Looks like fiberglass???

The hitch is a 360 degree military pintle that can be locked for regular towing. It can also be adjusted for height by swapping 4 bolts...

The top is actually the combination of two FJ40 hardtops (the actually fiberglass portion)... I welded two drip rails together and glassed two fiberglass portions togehter as well. The front of the trailer has the same dimensions and radius as the rear of the trailer, so I used the back 1/2 of two tops to do it...

Total wieght is approx 350 lbs empty... mabey less, when hooked up to the truck, I can still lift the rear end off the ground... and the tonque has approx 50 lbs on it...

Still to add... propane, water/air tank, sink?, tailgate. liftgate shocks on top...
