My dad bought this scout off our neighbor for 700 bucks. When he never got around to working on it he told me to list it up for sale. Then I decided I wanted it so I bought it. I got a little upgraded version thou. We started to put an AMC 360 with a T-18 tranny and are keeping with the Dana 20 tranfer case. It doesn't really have a lot of exterior body work, but the entire floor will need to be replaced. It needs a 2 inch body lift in order to get the motor in far enough for a radiator. We also plan on either a spring over axle lift or going extreme with coils, and possibly full size dodge axles. Here is a look at how she sits right now. The pics don't show the hood and grill because they were in perfect condition so we hid them in a safe place. The little guy in some of the pics is the best little helper a dad could ask for. Oh I was wondering about the year 68 or 69 any clues.

It is the scout 800 that came with a slant 4 (196) in-line 6 (232) or a V8 (266). Later they came out with a 304 V8. The old 3 speed gear box was trash. They also had a 4 speed T90 (i think) that was good. I highly recommend replacing the electrical harness especially the firewall feed thru plugs and sockets. If you don't replace the gas tank get a new sender. Be real careful with the spring over and have a good shop check caster and camber (I had Currie do mine) Looks like fun and brings back many good memories.

Love the Scout. I put a 2" Body lift on mine from Back Country Binders.

Very pleased w/ the kit. My only disapointment in doing mine was the steering column drove me nuts till I got it where it works well. Scouts at that time were usually titled when they were sold not made. There weren't many changes during the early years (61-71) to find much of a difference for the year. I did the full size axles & the only bad thing about running them is passing safety (tire coverage). Looks like you've got a great helper. Hopefully he doesn't get bored of helping like mine seem to:(
Keep up the good work:cool:

What size tires are you running and how much do you have sticking out? Is your profile pic with the full size axles?

So i have a little update. I haven't actually started the project yet but I have been collecting parts. I decided to bage the idea of the Ramcharger axles. I get to many mix opinions to know if I can trust them. I found me a set of Scout II D44's for a really good price. They came on a frame (that is no good) with a 345 V8 that runs vretty good. So instead of putting the 360 in I am going to use the 345 with the T-18 and D20. I think there will be less cutting if I do that, but we shall see. I decided to go with coil springs. I have quite a bit of fab experiance so I am going to build my own mounts and 4 link both the front and rear.

I actually got to start working on the Scout last week. Not much but I did get the body pulled. Picked up my D44's and the thing they came on. Worked on the motor a little and decided to stick with the 360. It will be alot less work. Hopefully I can get a little more done next weekend. Here are a few pics.
