I've never been there. What's the trail like? (as in difficulty). I may swing up and join ya in my stock taco.

It can be a pretty nasty trail with any water or snow. I would say at least one locker and some recovery gear. The trail starts just a few minutes out of Logan and can take you to the top of Mt. Logan. I wouldn't mind seeing how far we can get--the snow may be pretty deep towards the summit
The majority of Prov canyon is loose rocks and it passes through an old rock quarry that can be pretty entertaining. If you have the time you should really come. It will be a lot of fun

is there an easy way around the quarry? It sounds like it'd be fun. I've got a locker and a tow-strap, sounds like it might be enough.

Sounds like your good to go. There is a easy route through the entire quarry as well if you choose.
I would probably not attempt the later portion of the trail in the FJ. It is difficult in the dry months and really difficult when wet. If ground clearance wasn't an issue I think it would be okay, but there are some pretty good sized rocks that could really do a number on the undercarriage.

yes i think you would be fine. you can go the easy way to the top but it is just like a dirt road. you can go into logan canyon and go up girls camp and go to four corners or you can go up millvile. but by far just going up the quarry is the best trail to go one. i have taken a open rig up this many times.

i don't plan on going the easy way to the top, I just want to make sure there is one in case. I'd hate to drive 3 hours and only wheel for 20 min. Thanks for all in input everyone.

I think both would be ok, but there might be some scary spots for the rocker panels.

i took my 88 sami and my xj with 33s and open diffs up the dugway with no to little body damage it just takes a little bit longer to get up it. it is worth the drive from lehi.

Shouldn't have a problem if they bypass the Nasty at the quarry. We took a guy in a rental bone stock 4dr JK with open diffs and street tires up Prov in August, he bypassed the Nasty and had a little trouble just above the quarry, which was mostly traction related. A locker or LS would have solved this problem, but he drove it with a strap......so a locked FJ should do fine.
BTW, if you care at all about your paint.......avoid Millville, we ran up Prov and down Millville last fall and it's overgrown to the width of the UTV machines.
I plan on running Prov in the next 30 days, so if you miss this run there will be more.....
Just went up on Thursday and Friday (I live right at the mouth) and you will do just fine in the FJ. The rockiest part of the trail is just above the quarry and if you pick your line right you can avoid undercarriage damage on the big rocks. As of today, the snow at the top will not be much of an issue (only about 3-4 inches), depends on what the rest of the week brings. It is definitely worth the drive! That trail is a blast!
I second the comment about Millvile, the trail has grown to be very very narrow and you will be hitting branches...not twigs.
I wish I could go but I will be in Moab, it seems everytime a run is organized in Providence canyon I am gone. Oh well, maybe next time.

Cool. I'll spread the word to my buddy with the FJ. He is definitely interested in avoiding undercarriage damage. One more question (sorry for all the questions). How far up the trail is the quarry? Is it halfway up, or right at the beginning, or at the end? If he doesn't feel comfortable above the quarry, then I want to make sure he still gets in some good wheeling before then. Thanks everyone. We'll have to post this in the trail maps page along with some pictures.

The quarry is the beginning. The hardest part is within a hundred yards of where you'd turn you hubs in.
