Like the title says. Whats the purpose of having a stinger on the front or rear of a rig?????
Jinx said:Two reasons I can think of
#1 a stinger that is taller than the hood will usually save the hood/radiator in the event of a roll. You will still probably loose the windsheild frame but at least you can drive it out.
#2 it can act as a "wheely bar" to stop a rig from going over, either front or back.
can anyone think of anything else?

I thought those were for hanging the clothesline when you're at camp...Kris K said:Looks, true I just hate the ones that stick out 4' in the front.

Rick B said:The original reason for them was to catch your vehicle and keep it from falling into a crevass in the ice. Only useful in places like Greenland & far north Canada where you might be driving across a glacier and actually have the possibility of falling into a hidden crevass. I have no clue why anyone would want one just for looks, and I can't think of any functional reason to have one in this part of the world.
