Q about Pritchett & Behind the Rocks

I've been wondering about connecting Pritchett Canyon to Behind the Rocks. I've run both individually, but thought that it might be a fun (albeit long) trail to run in a day. Has anyone done it? Where do you tie in at? Is it after you climb Yellow Hill? Thoughts?

Traditionally they were the same trail run in opposite directions....

Yep, from yellow hill you can either hit the county road be vering right, or the trail towards the left will take you to the bottom of white knuckle....There are several trails out there that will get you there....

I guess I'm turned around, because it seems like White Knuckle would be to the right.

So, is the county road basically the Pritchett Arch (easy) trail?

I've done it twice. Both times went up pritchet, then to behind the rocks. I can't remember where we officially got on behind the rocks. We did go up white knuckle hill. It seems to me that this would be the best direction to run behind the rocks.

Is is long. Seems like we started about 8-9, got done about 5-6.

In fact, I may do it this Friday. :D

That's what I was thinking also, up Pritchett and out BtR would be the best of both trails.

Yep, done this the last couple of times that I did Pritchett. Maybe a mile or so after Yellow Hill the road splits - the right fork takes you out to the county road, the left fork takes you to Behind the Rocks. Last I was there (first weekend in March) there were a few signs showing which way to head for Behind the Rocks. We usually run Pritchett and then go over and up White Knuckle and then hit the dirt road that takes you out to Highway 191 rather than hitting the rest of BtR. It's a full day to do both, but lots of good wheelin'. Probably two of my favorite trails down there.

I've done it that way. If you're going to go out the other end, you might as well go up white knuckle. The other nice wayto do Pritchett is to eat lunch above white knuckle hill, then turn around and go back through pritchett. That way you don't have to drive your trail rig back on the highway to your tow rig.

I've been that way many times, just like everyone says, go left when you drop down the hill to connect to the county road. The County Road will be heading to your right and straight away from you (you come into it on a bend) you want to take a 90 degree left at that point onto the Hunter Canyon trail. The trail through Hunter Canyon is pretty cool and hooks you up to the bottom of White Knuckle then there are several splits but you can ge to Hidive and Upchuck then out to the paved road. Very Cool! We will be doing that most likely on May 20 or 21.
