Question about a vib in the front

I have a vibration in the front end of my jeep when going down the freeway. I noticed that I have a bad U-joint on the right side shaft and my drive line U-joint is bad to, will that cause a D-30 front end to vibrate or could the ball joints be bad? I never change ball joints and I don’t even know when they are bad or not.

Thanks,

a bad u-joint will deffinitely cause it to vibrate...the whole front end, drive shaft and all, turn all the time in Jeep D30s because of the lack of selectable hubs...

I have never change a u-joint in the front shaft but once on a dodge. Are they a pain or they just like a drive line?

pretty much like a driveline, just more to take apart to get to them...

Not on the vacuum selectable YJ axles, with the two piece right side axle shaft. With an open diff the driveshaft doesn't turn fast enough to vibrate unless in 4wd. But a bad axle u-joint could cause a vibration.

NOW MY NEXT QUESTION IS I HAVN'T CHANGE THE U-JOINT IN THIS JEEP SINCE I BOUGHT IT SEVEN YEARS AGO JUST GREASE THEM AND DRIVE SO AFTER SO MANY YEARS DO YOU THINK THE METAL WEARS AND CAUSES A LITTLE SLOP IN IT CAUSEING IT TO VIB? THEY LOOKED A LITTLE BURNED TO. THANKS FOR YOUR HELP

Mine also vibrated when the front DS was getting loose at the TC.

This depends. If you have u-joints with needle bearings they should last forever so long as you keep them greased well. Get water in them or let them go bad and they wear quick. The kind without the bearings will wear out in time, if you keep them greased, they will last a long time though. Just pull the shaft, if they still feel tight, keep them, if they're lose, replace them while you have the DS out.
As far as the axle, that's definitely causing a vibe if it's bad. Replace and it and see what happens then.
