Looking at getting a 2012 Passat tdi it has 98,000 miles on it. What kind of services are in the near future? Is there any problems with the common rail that I should avoid this car?

This model seems to have problematic torque converter.

I'm thinking a firmware update, worst case scenario a DEF add on. With the update people may loose power/MPG.

That is what I would guess. I doubt if the average person will notice much difference - otherwise too many people would not opt in... It'll be interesting to see how this rolls out.

Pulled the plug on the Passat. We just could see it working for our family in the long run. Going to look at a gx460 tomorrow we will see how that goes.
