I do not know a lot about jeeps axles etc.. I am looking to buy a 97 grand cherokee laredo. It has a bad front end, what other jeep axles would fit under it and did the grand cherokee come with different axle ratios in different years? Thanks

Is it a v8? I believe all the grands came with a dana 30 front axle (LP to my knowledge) and either 3.55 or 3.73 gears. Yours is probably the 3.73. You can get another dana 30 out of a grand or you can get a 30 out of a cherokee which will most likely be HP, and almost a direct bolt in. Or you could go the dana 44 route but will have to do quite a bit to make that bolt in. Again this is all to my knowledge so correct me if im wrong

If it were me, I'd just get a high pinion unit out of an XJ. Way easy to find and a slight strength upgrade. If your ZJ shafts are u-joint, I'd keep them as they should have the bigger axle joints (297-760) in them. I believe they are "bolt-in" but I've never done it so I'm not sure.

I think the only thing you have to do to the HP 30 to get it bolt in is drill out the track bar bracket to a bigger hole. But that would be my choice too, what size tire you going to run?
