Quick evening trip out to the Colorado River

We decided to take a quick evening trip up to Glade Park, then over the UT/CO border and down to Fish Ford on the Colorado River. It wasn't anything too crazy, just a fun trip. We ended up seeing a herd of Elk and a bigger herd of Deer along the way.

After crossing the state line, we dropped quite a bit of elevation into the desert valley. On our way to Fish Ford we stopped to play in the sand dunes. A few miles from the dunes was Fish Ford... I'm curious about the 'Ford' part because the river is BIG. I'd love to see someone Ford that river!

We hit the river banks just as the sun was setting, so we kicked back and watched the sun go down and the stars come out. Eventually we decided to head back home. It was a fun & easy evening out with the family. :)

It's not named for a river crossing, it's named for the dude that tried it in a Ford and ended up sleeping with the fishes.

Sometimes, those are the most memorable trips, the impromptu ones that require no planning.

That looks like a great spur of the moment trip! There is so much terrain to explore down there... so cool.
