Quick Help Oil Pan Gasket

Just looking for your tips on getting this pan gasket to seal (round 2.) I'm just about to take the pan off my 4.0 and throw another seal at it. I've got the one piece OEM Jeep seal (rubber) and copper RVT this time. What do you all do with your silicon? Let it get tacky? I sort of glued the gasket on the pan last time and then did the block before throwing the pan on.

Tell me, oh wise ones, how do you do yours?? :)

Applied a nice thin even coating to the pan then place the gasket to it then another thin even coat on top of that. Or you can coat the engine, but clean all oil off first. Any oily residue will be your undoing. Install when when tacky but not right after putting the RTV on.

The rubber one piece I got had the plastic bot thingies to hold the gasket to the block and snap the pan in place until you got bolts in it....I think the application for the gasket was 96 and later??
The plastic things make life easier....

Must be the newer ones since both gaskets (this weeks and lasts) don't have them.....that'd be handy though
