So, I've noticed over the years that people have been saying they wanted to quit smoking on here. Just curious how many have been successfull, or stopped for a bit, but started again, or whatever. Choose whatever fits you.

For me, I'm at about 1.75 years now since I quit and haven't looked back. The smell of it now bugs me and definately doesn't try to lure me back!

I quit about 7 years ago and the only time I have the erg to smoke again is when I am at the tables in Vegas. But I can say that I have not even had drag since I quit 7 years ago. Oh and they were only 1.71 for Marlboro and gas was only 1.35 gal

UGH I am getting old

I quit in 2005 and havent had a drag since. I havent ever got the urge either. I guess I just got to a point where I didnt want to anymore and just quit. No one encouraged me or pressured me or whatever. I just didnt like it anymore and stopped.

I still find it odd that after smoking for so many years I just quit cold turkey and havent had any urges since.

Quit 5 years ago. Still like the smell from a distance, but get sick to my stomach if I actually inhale it. And the first 6 months after I quit were definately the most miserable 6 months of my life. Now, don't even miss it.

I quit cold turkey about 25 years ago, that was 3 packs a day. It was hard at first, especially skiing or out in the cold. After a while I didn't miss it. I'm to the point now that I'll light one up socially at a party and remember the next day why I don't miss it.

I've got to be honest. After a big meal, I would LOVE to have a cig to settle my stomach. That was always the best thing about them.

I don't do it though. It's just too expensive. I can't imagine spending $30 to $40 a week on cigarettes. I just don't have the extra money.

The fact that they're so expensive helps keep me away from them. If they were $1 a pack, I might be more tempted. The fact that NOBODY around me smokes helps too. Peer pressure's a mutha!!!

Trying to quit, have fallen on my face a few times, trying chantix this time to see how well it works.

That's the stuff I used last year. Worked great for me. I was on it for three weeks and on the third week just stopped completely and was done for good. I finished up the one month of meds and haven't looked back on it.

Oh and make sure you eat when you take that stuff. I thought I was either dying/going to throw up if I took it on a empty stomach.

My parents quit cold turkey after 40+ years. Between the two of them they had about a 4-5 pack /day habbit.

You just have to be resolved to quit. Once you are ready, then it shouldn't be that hard.

But, really how do I know. I've never even tried a cigarrette.

On my 3rd week now, cut back from chain-smoking 100's to smoking only 1 regular at a time, hope I don't have to go for a second month of this stuff but I have been upwards of a pack or more a day the past few months.
