Hey guys Im in the middle of dovetailing the rear of my 77 rc. I am getting pretty close to being done just need to get some sheet metal to fab up the wheel wells. I mangled the original ones while taking them out. Where do you guys buy sheet metal from? Im thinking 1/8 inch thick what do you guys think? Thanks Zack

1/8" seems super thick for wheelwells. Go to a supplier and get your hands on some sheets and you'll likely change your mind. it seems like 20g or so would cut it just fine. 1/8" is significantly thicker than truck beds and whatnot... even the thickest part on my whole xj is thinner than that

dovetailed ramcharger FTW!

1/8" seems way over kill. I also think you should take a look at the 18 to 20 gauge metal as well. Do you have a write up some where on here? I would really like to see how you did it. Thanks.

Just cruise down to Wasatch Steel. They have large sheets sitting out that you can look at and decide what thickness, but like others have said 1/8" is overkill.

I was in slc today for work so I swung by wasatch steel and grabed some 20 gauge. I think it should work just fine. Now I just need to get the 440 from the machine shop and drop it in then I can dovetail the front.

L.T. I dont have a write up but I will post up some more pictures tomorrow. Is there anything in perticular you were wondering about? I have went through your build up a couple times for ideas and motivation a couple times.

Thanks for the compliments guys. Its not perfect but I figure its a offroad rig its going to get beat up anyway. I do want it to look decent though.

I want to dove tail the back and the front of my Beater but, I have no skills or knowledge on how to. I would love some pictures and a discription of how you did it. Thanks a million.

16 is plenty, my floor is 16 and its waaay tough, I have a video of a sick RC doing Arrowhead that was doved last year at Crawlfest one of the best looking RC's I have ever seen. Looking good so far!

I'd bet that was Jared's RC from Salt Lake. If you've seen the work Kyle did on Goat's TJ, that RC is another example of what Kyle has had his handy work in.

Is it red Bart? I found some videos but can't find the pic's..

EDIT: Here is a pic of it in this thread from last year.

The red Ramcharger belongs to a fella on here. He goes by the sign on name of Dalton. A helluva nice guy. He and his brother along with a few friends of mine got my junk back on the trail last years EJS disaster. Dalton is the kind of guy you want to have on the trail with you.
