Anyone looking for a new mattress?
Here is an old slide of the very first 4x4 I ever drove, 59 Chev Apache that used to be a Forest Service truck. View attachment 136479Apache
You know they used to do chariot/cutter races every Saturday at the Lagoon racetrack in the late 60's and 70's. I have a couple 5-600 photos of this stuff along with some rodeo that I donated to the current association, they still have some of the same family's doing it.

You sure that’s not Fort Drum? Looks eerily familiar 😂View attachment 137246View attachment 137247
Tent camping in a blizzard on the tundra about 100 miles north of Churchill, Manitoba in 2009. 60-70 mph winds, 2+ feet of snow in 36 hours and temps started about -10F, dropped to -35 before the winds died off.

Yeah I talked a lot with Diane, President or whatever her title is of the World championship cutter and chariot racing association, she come over to my house and I gave her all the prints, negatives and a copy of everything scanned. She said a lot of the same families that did it back then still do it now. She also mentioned about having issues with Golden spike and events where being moved, they also talked about putting up a display of my grandpas photos at their main event and never did because after I gave them those pictures they had a whole bunch of other members that said they also had old photos, haven't heard from them since. Also I was named after a family friend that died racing his son at an event around the time I was born, maybe 3-4 other people on the planet that share my name.Nice buck on top as well!
Winter months they still do chariot racing at Deseret Peak Complex and Golden Spike. I have several friends active in the sport (including world champion couple years ago.) One of my horses (unfortunately passed on about 1 year ago) did chariot racing for several years after his career on the regular race track. Then I got to retrain him into a regular pleasure horse. Was pretty entertaining the first time he had to learn how to walk up and down a hill (at about 14 years old!)

I’m kind of in the same camp. I do REALLY like the manual trans units with the 5.0. They are a great mix of fast and fun. If Ford had a Fusion with this power train, (5.0L and a six speed manual driving the rear wheels) it’d be in my garage already. Not gonna lie but I have never been a fan of the mustangs.
