Rattle/Con Cleanup

Turned out great, we had alot of people turn out (I would guess around 20) so cleaning up any caliber of mess went quick... The trails were not as bad as I expected, though there were ALOT of "empty's" all over... I also scored a tire, gas tank, electrical junction box, and some other misc. stuff.

As I was in the Taco, I opted against going up Rattlesnake, rahter my rio (Candace) and I headed up the "baja road" and cleaned up as we got to the old mine tailings... We then went down Constrictor from the top, parked the Tacoma above the Eagles Nest and hiked it all the way to the bottom (hoping the other group would soon catch up). The weather was actually quite mild and a breeze made it comfortable to hike around.

We waited for a little bit and then decided to do a gabage sweep from the bottom of Constrictor (near the sign) all the way to the top... We were FULL by the time we made it back to the Tacoma... (and I am sure there are items our eyes missed)... A quick stop at a local dumpster and the truck is all cleaned out... :D:D:D

Regarding the trees at the "Eagles Nest"... WOW, they are trashed, sad to say but 4-5 trees have been lost as result of vehicles hitting them and cables... the big one with the cable 2/3 through it will likely die in the years to come... :(

One thing to realize is that some trees will be altered when a trail of this caliber gets used alot... but wrecklessly killing them (as with the winch cable) is absolutely uncalled for... hope someone gets an anchor installed soon... ;)

I must say that the "Eagles Nest" is nothing compared to what it was like that first day Shawn, Tracy, and I played around out there.. I have slowly watch as things changed, the obstacle slowly filled in and the trail grew around it... The "Fang" is another obstacle that is no-more... this once used to be quite the rocker snatcher... now it does little more than make you steer aroud it, the trail now sidehills higher on the bank...

Great day in the desert, thanks to all those that came out and WALKED... :D

One more quick comment...

I must say that the Rattlesnake/Constrictor area is waaaaaaaaaay cleaner that the rest of the 5MP OHV area. We stopped at the intersection of the highway/Faust Cut-off... the sage brush was litterally full of garbage... filled two bags in a hurry...

Let that be a compliment to the users of RS/CON... we may fight alot... but at least we can save face when needed... :D

Sticks and I just got back. We drove part way up Constrictor and had to turn around due to cooling issues. It was a pretty easy cleanup, but that trail is CLEAN now.

Yes you did. I heard the noise during and afterwards. Congrats Chad.

If I wasn't running a dam* carb I "might" have made it. I gave it a he11 of a shot though. Thanks for the vote of confidence Harley, Ollie and passengers. (sorry forgot your names)

Way to go, guys. Great work. We cleaned up our share of trash in Moab to pretend to participate in cleanup day. :)

Sorry I didn't get picks :( James and myself were waiting for the 8 other vehicles (not in our group) to attempt the spot where the Isuzu's final resting place was. Spotters and all it was pretty tough for them and not very entertaining for us. I almost took a pic of James napping. :D

Speaking of James, he doesn't look too happy here. :flipoff:

And Ollie is thinking "if she just nails it she'll make it"
