This is kind of backcountry tech...several of you have Rav4's that see some backcountry and snow travel use.
My parents just bought a 2010 Rav4 from Turbominivan (thanks again Dempsey!) for all around stuff plus going to our family cabin. I think that it is a great vehicle, and I was really pushing for one for my wife (she liked the Outback more). They looked at a few different suv's and crossovers. This one made the cut since it has a "Brett button" (center diff lock button that ensures the rear wheels actually get some power). Over the past few years, we have seen a few crossovers that have worthless awd systems and can't get up the final hill to the cabin.
I checked it out today when they came over, and peeked underneath, since if it does get stuck, I'll likely be the one pulling it out. And/or, I'd like to have the proper items purchased and stashed in one of the rear cubby holes so my parents will be prepared.
There is a place on the back to hook a strap (via D-ring), but I couldn't find a good location up front. There are a couple of "bolt access holes" in the undercarriage that the right sized hook could be looped through.
Interweb searches didn't yield much...
What have you folks used?
