Removing broken bolts?

Any innovative ways to get these bolts out?

I tried briefly at the BFG trailer to weld a nut to the end of the bolt, but the generator didn't have enough power to run the welder, so it would just stick the wire to the nut. I stopped before screwing up the threads too much. So how do I get them out? They are both shearded below the top of the hole. I can try to weld a nut on, or maybe a left-hand drill bit? Maybe an easy out? Anything I'm not thinking of?

If I try an easy-out (which never make things easy, in my experience), I have to drill a hole in each bolt. As long as I'm drilling holes, I might as well drill them backwards and see if that alone spins the bolts out (or out enough that I can grab them). So, where can I get a backwards drill bit?

Just use a LH drill bit, bet it will come out without the easyout....
Um, yeah. That's what my second post was all about... The question is, where do I get said LH drill bit? I've never seen one in any store I've been to.

The Tool Store on 3rd West (about 16th South) should have em'... if not there are a couple other specialty tool shops right near there.

I've seen people weld a nut to what's left of your sheared bolt (good pics, BTW). The heat will help unseat it and then you can put a little torque on the welded on nut. Better than drilling, IMHO.

Now we're getting somewhere! I'll try to get some bits from those places and try to drill them out first, if that doesn't work I'll try the easy-outs in my freshly drilled holes, and when the easy-outs break off, I'll try welding a nut to them. :D If that doesn't work I'll take my pick of a number of superfluous threaded holes in the side of the block to fab up a new motor mount in a different spot. I wish I had some more time to get this done...

Soak it with oil, I found that some stuff called Kroil works better than anything else I used. But there are other cool penitrating oils out there too.

Harbor freight has a set of left hand drill bits for only $10 for a set of 4, the advantage of using theirs is they are made of soft metal so they are easy to drill out when they break off. :D
