on your spare driveshafts.

I have seen people use all sorts of tapes but the tape eventually gets dirty and falls off and thus the caps will fall off.

so, besides tape what have you found that will hold the joints securely while in storage?

Either duct tape, then it's wider and stays put better, or celephane <sp?> (Rynolds plastic sandwich wrap - you know the stuff that sticks to everything BUT the bowl!) wrap the entire driveshaft. Then it keeps it nice and clean. You can also take small pieces of cardbaord and wrap it all up. The cardboard will draw the moisture and keep everything nice and rustfree!

no digital camera...my wife was swinging it around at three peaks launched it into the rocks and destroyed it...I am going to try and find a camera to take some build up pics, I'll try and snap one of the hose clamps as well

have you done this?

if so, were you able to find wide clamps?
You can get large hose clamps at a boat store (72nd and state is one). They use them for the exhaust... I might have some 4" ones laying around that you can have from my last boat experience... ;)

Hose clamps of all sizes at the typical hose supply places...Evco, Hose and Rubber....

I like the plastic shrink-wrap stuff, that's what they come wrapped with when they get shipped in a tube, and it holds them well. (at least from High Angle, since that's where mine came from...)

Tom Woods does the same thing...and like you said, works very well :D

I use the fiberglass reinforced tape. That is how Tom Woods ships his DS's. It's cheap and it hold way better than duct tape. The hose clamp idea sound good also because you can reuse it.

They(I have no idea who 'they' are) make metal straps specifically for holding u-joints....When I had Slyco build my front shaft about a year ago, it had 'em on there....still use them today! I'll get a pic and show ya.....When I'm off work!

last shaft I got from Jesse at high angle was saran wrapped, there was no shrink involved

That's what I meant...didn't really mean to say shrink-wrap. Stretchy packaging saran-wrappy stuff. :)
