Richfield RMP Comment Meeting - 1/16/08 - We Need YOU there!

When: Wednesday, January 16th, 2007 - 6pm - 9pm

Where: Larry H. Miller Dodge, Upstairs Conference Room, 10985 Auto Mall Drive, Sandy, UT 84070 (Note: this meeting will be in the Dodge building, directly south of the Jeep building we regularly meet in)

Who: Everyone that enjoys motorized access to public lands, your mom, your dad, your kids, your friends, etc... Bring them all! Stop in anytime... it only takes 20-30 minutes to write a meaningful comment.

Why: Comments are very important to the BLM during these decisions, every last one counts and is read. Your comments could dictate the future of 4x4 trails in the Richfield and Henry Mountain areas. Don't let your voice go unheard!

What: The U4WDA will have educated representatives & piles of information there to help guide you in writing meaningful comments. We will then collect all the letters and send them in for you!

The U4WDA will provide everything... just show up for a few minutes and comment!

What if you can't make it?: Stay tuned, we will have a Email & Mail Comment guide that will assist you in writing a comment, including suggested talking points and sample comments.

Dunno if anyone has read through enough of the Draft yet, but in Alt C and D, what's the part about Fuels and Fire management......

"Use prescribed fire, intensively treating areas to
create properly functioning ecosystems, prioritizing
treatments in areas not currently functioning
properly."

Who decides that an area needs to get torched???

The simple answer, the BLM.

The BLM employees an entire team of fire specialists, with degrees in envioronmetal related fields (ie forestry, biology, etc).

One more day till this goes down. Hope to see as many of you as possible. We need all the support that we can get if we're going to keep our trails open for generations to come!

See you there!

EDIT: Hmm.....forgot to post using my alternate identity!

It's a damn shame that this is posted on over 20 forums around the net, and I see only the same 3 or 4 people commenting in each place. No wonder we're losing access.

SAVE TRAILS, KILL APATHY, GET INVOLVED!

You'll only have yourself to blame when these closures are implemented next year. We've lost over 10,000 miles of routes in Utah this year as a result of these RMPs.

Like someone else said, I'm long distance - what can I do more than I already am? I already write letters and send them to the people I'm told. I'm a donating member of key organizations that say they are trying to make a difference. What else? I can't drive 1,000 miles for a 1 hour meeting.
