RME March Trip - Pony Express Trail

What: A quick day trip out along one of Utah's most historic trails. We'll be stopping at points of interest along the way, including but not limited to, Simpson Springs, Fish Springs, the Callao CCC Camp, and Gold Hill.

When: March 13th, 2021 @ 8:00am

Where: Staging area just west of UT-36 on the PET (40°09'55.7"N 112°26'10.5"W).

Who: Anyone and everyone. Whether you’re a seasoned traveler or someone just getting into exploring Utah’s backcountry and varied historical sites we encourage you to come out. If you are planning on coming please RSVP below!

What to Bring: Camera, binoculars, coat, gloves, lunch.

What time do we meet?

All of this trip is on graded county roads. The only time you'll possibly need 4WD is if its wet and muddy in a few spots.

I've heard more people pronounce it 'Foust'... more that 'Faust'.

I worked out of Faust for my first year on the RR! I'd report to work right at the old, run-down house on the North-West corner of the crossing and road. My Foreman lived in the company house right there.

Yeah, thats definitely more of a "Utah" pronunciation.

We ran it last weekend and I would definitely plan on airing down your tires. The road on either side of the Dugway Geode beds was pretty rough in terms of washboards.

And I pronounce it "Fowst". Fight me!

I was today years old when I learned that Faust can be pronounced in a plethora of ways,

Put me down as a maybe. I have a reservation in Moab KOA for that weekend, but the event that I am targeting is holding registration right now. The event may not go, or it may go but I may not be able to get a spot. Anyway, I'll know better in a couple of weeks.

Its going to be all on maintained gravel roads. An Acadia would be fine if its not muddy and you have a good set of tires. The washboard out there can be pretty brutal at times and passenger tires can be eaten up.
