I tried a McDonalds fry for the first time in a month and a half last weekend...

Absolutely revolting. I spit it out.

I've never been a chocolate guy either, but I love me that chocko protein shake.

Oh man, you guys are nuts. Nothing it better than fries or tater tots after eating healthy for couple weeks.

And I don't know how people like protein shakes. I've been having them for 2-3 almost daily and hate them. I just mix with as little water as possible and chug it.

HAHHAA I drink 2-3 protein shakes a day and love them. I think its all about finding a brand and a flavor you like.

http://www.bodybuilding.com/store/opt/whey.html

I personally love the Mocha Cappuccino. Stuff is like mothers milk!

Sometimes when i dont feel like or have time for a 6 egg and chicken breast omelet I down this:

2 cups of skim milk
2 TB ground flax
TB Pysillium Husk
2 scoops protein powder (1 whey, 1 casein)
1 packet of instant plain oatmeal.
Ice water

Blend and drink. The stuff tastes like dessert. It has everything you need. Two sources or protein, Omega 3 fats, Complex and simple carbs, as well as 1/3rd of your daily fiber intake. This amount to roughly 600 calories.

BTW, I always fel weird eating a chicken breast omelet....should I?

Are you just doing a broiled/baked breast? I hadn't thought about doing that for breakfast with my eggs, but that's an option. And I don't think it's weird, people do steak and eggs ;)

Steak and eggs is two different animals though. Chicken on eggs is the same bird! I dunno it seems weird to me but it tastes good. What came first the omelett or the chicken? UGH, nevermind.

I cook 4-8 chx breasts every 3 days. I boil them, when there cool I put them in ziploc bags in 8 oz portions. I just cut them into small thin strips. If I put them in an omelet I usually cut them really thin, warm them on the pan, set them aside and then after the omelet has set up I place them in, throw some tabasco and 2% low fat american cheese on it and its good to go!

I use chicken breast because ham, sausage, and bacon have too much fat, sodium, and cholesterol for me. I eat more chicken in 3 months than most people probably do all year long. I am just happy I like it.

Oh and before I forget my "6 egg" is really 2 large Brown Omega 3 eggs and 1 cup of Egg Beaters. This is the equivalent of 6 whole eggs without the fat, cholesterol, and sodium of all 6, but all the protein!

Weighed in yesterday at 233. I've been eating different for about a month now and believe to have lost probably 10 lbs. Loving the protein drinks and the higher in protein diet (eggs, chicken, etc). The only thing I haven't liked so far is the issues dropping kids off at the pond. I stopped drinking the shakes and that helped quite a bit. I ordered up some psyllium husk and have been taking it with my shakes daily and have noticed that helps quite a bit.

Never am I hungry, never do I feel like I've eaten way too much and I have more energy through the day. Now if I drink a Pepsi/Coke, it tastes like pure sugar, which is not enjoyable. I didn't think I'd ever be able to give up soda... I still have one when I grab McD's occasionally, but even that is far and fewer between - down from several times a week to maybe once a week. A month ago I did not think I'd be able to do this, but so far no complaints!

Here's to another month and dare I say another 10 lbs?!

Keep drinking the protein. After about a month your body gets used to it.

Whey used to be hell on my stomache and I'd always get a litte sick when I'd take it. Now I usually have around ~4 scoops throughout the day and I don't even notice.

That even goes for low fiber diets as well.

I am the same way Wayne. I have been on high protein for 13 months and there are times I go 2-3 days without sending a brown shark.

Since i added Physllium Husk it has helped but make sure you drink a lot of water throughout the day. I learned the hard way. I had a protein shake for breakfast the other day (with husk) and as soon as i got to work I was stuck in a meeting and couldnt get to water for a few hours. The stuff started coming up and getting gritty in my throat! Yuk.

Then I read the bottle and it advises this......LOL!

Another thing to try if you dont like the P-husk is Benefiber. It is tasteless and stirs into anything except carbonated stuff. I have Benefiber one day and husk the next.

Keep in mind that my 2-3 days in between going is also contributed to my diet. 60% of my caloric intake is protein, and only 20-20 for fat and carbs. I eat around 1800-2000 calories a day now and eating as clean as I do means that I eat about 2 pounds of chicken products almost every day. (Eggs and chicken meat). Some days I am holding 5-8 pounds of food and water in my system and I feel bloated, and fat. It sucks, but its all part of the diet. It beats feeling hungry all the time though like so many other diets out there.

Just stick to the protein and you will lose weight.

I am down another 4 pounds since 09/16/2008. I have 11 pounds to go to hit my goal. Oh and Wayne, if you seen me now I bet you would ****. The last time you saw me I was quite portly!

Guess I wanna be cool too.

Age: 29
Height 6’5”
Current weight: 320 lbs/ 42" waist
Goal Weight: 250-275/ 36" waist

My goal is more for a healthier life style, and smaller waist. I'm tired of not being able to find pants that fit because i'm not tall and skinny or short and fat.

Also, I am getting married in about 50 days, and would like to not look like a bear when I get our pictures done. Having a kid in the summer and want to be able to be more active and energetic with him/her.

Then just the health issues. I've always had problems with my back and knees, (too many issues to list) and weight loss is always the first thing the doc says to make it better. guess I'll listen now.

My plan: first step done, I quit smoking after 16 years. This last weekend, not easy. still having problems, but only 1 a day.

Eating smaller portions. And eliminating Mtn Dew. Kit Kats, Pounds of Potatoes. Trying to eliminate fast food, or at least the bad stuff. I have a weakness for really good food and I was always taught "you take it, you eat it" sometimes my eyes are bigger than my stomach, but I still find a way to cram it all in.

Congrats and good luck to everyone else already on this RME program, beerman, you are an inspiration.

Thank You,
Bear

With the fear of getting too graphic, it wasn't that I couldn't drop the kids at the pool, it was the sand paper feeling while doing so. The kids needed to be softened up a bit...

There were two choices with the psyllium husk - tablets and powder. I chose the tablets because they seemed easier to take and digest. I'm honest with myself when I say I don't nor won't drink enough water. I don't like the taste of water. We're on a natural spring/well here, and it's not bad through the fridge filter. But the only kind of water that I have found that I like is Crystal Geyser. That stuff I'll drink several a day. In Sacramento it was plentiful and easy to get at Sam's Club so I would buy a case a week.

You sound the same as I... The first two weeks or so I had a hard time complying to my new diet. Not because I wanted the junk, just didn't know what to do with myself not eating it - it was just such a habit. Now a month in and I don't really care for it. Following Beerman and eating more often than twice a day has really helped cure the case of the snacks. My biggest problem is when I'm working, I like to snack in between grabbing another wrench or etc.

Anyway, good luck!

Thank you for the support,
Ya, sitting at my desk most of the day i usually keep a box of wheat thins, or a couple kit kats, to curb the snack cravings, need to start bringing in some veggies or something.

It makes it easier when you know your not the only one having these problems, and if BeerMan can lose that much, why can't I? Right.

Absolutely. You aren't alone, look at the numbers in this thread talkign about it - they are going through it all too.

All the extra protein and protein shakes really helped me. So I'll usually have a protein shake and a bannana or some yogurt between meals. I used to feel hungry when I got up in the morning, so I'd eat. Then I'd feel hungry at lunch and I'd eat. Dinner the same thing and probably have a bowl of ice cream before bed to hold me over. Sometimes I'd be hungry laying in bed trying to sleep. Now I basically eat 5 smaller meals a day instead of 3 and never 'feel' hungry. To me that's the biggest help in cutting out the snacks. I used to snack when I was hungry and between meals. I guess I still snack, but it's not as much and it's not the junk that it used to be. I'm a push over for reeses, butterfingers, skittles, gummy bears, hot tamales, etc... and pepsi. When I'm thirsty, I grab a protein shake most of the time now. I'll still grab a pepsi or beer once in a while, though. I really thought this would be difficult, or I would have changed my eating habits years ago. In a million years I never thought I'd be able to give up snacks and pepsi.... I have no idea if what I'm doing is right, but I feel better and have more energy through the day - and I think I've lost about 7-15 lbs (shoulda weighed in when I started, but I'm sure I was in the 240-245 area) in the process. Which doesn't really surprise me, candy and soda have a butt load of carbs in them.

I am glad to read everyone giving it hell. Like mentioned.....if I can do it, so can YOU. Stay motivated and keep positive people and things around you at all times. Stay humble and keep in mind that losing weight and keeping it off is one of the hardest things that the human being does in their life. You have to live with your body forever and you cant trade it in like an old truck. If you have weeks that are tough and you didnt lose a single pound, dont let it slow you down. This happens.

Also, like I said before. Take to this like so many of you do to Rock Crawling. You cant build a trophy truck or $100,000.00 tube buggy overnight. Most of us have to work OT, make sacrifices, or save money to build our dream toys. We read magazines, reviews, forums, etc. to find out what works and what doesnt, etc. I took this same approach to my weight loss and it kept me motivated. Instead of a flexy suspension you will get a more flexible body!

That was probably cheesy but again stay happy, positive, motivated, and you will get what your working for.

I guess that's true.. The easiest part is loosing it, the hardest part is keeping it off. Will be me for me anyway... I do understand that it's a complete lifestyle change. Just not sure if I'm up for that yet. I guess 1 day at a time, eh?

Picked me up a bike today. I've always hated running, jogging, walking, etc., but have always loved mountain bikes. I can ride a MTB for hours and have fun doing it even though I feel like I'm going to pass out. I debated whether or not to get it, because of winter coming and all, but I realized I have snowboard gear if it gets that cold. I went out tonight with my snowboard gloves, beanie, thermals, and a pair of shorts and had a blast (besides the getting a flat part). I'm super stoked to ride, especially on a bike that fits me.

Weighed in yesterday at 233.

Weighed in yesterday before I left for Cali - 227. So 6 lbs in just over 3 weeks?

I have to admit this past month was harder. I ate more junk food than the previous month, but at least I did it in moderation. ie didn't get the extra size or double quarter type of deal. I also drank a lot more soda and less protein shakes. I made sure to keep it up to moderation and smaller portions though.

This next week in CA will be difficult as I'm out of my eliment at my dad's house. However, he's never been a big carb guy, meats and potatoes, sooo.... Then it's Turkey week, so who knows there....

Overall I feel much better. Love wearing jeans again and not being cut at the waist when bending over. Yeah, could have always bought them bigger, but sweats or shorts (or khaki's) are always more comfortable. Mostly because I was tired of the shirt and tie thing. Now I don't do that anymore, so I'm liking wearing jeans again...

ANyway! Here's to another month!

I haven't weighed myself in a while... but I have lost another belt notch, and one belt I had is on it's last notch, due to it's design it will be taken out of service soon.
I'm only down about 15 pounds, but I fit MUCH better in airplane seats now.
My week in Romania was interesting... I had to choose food carefully, and the hotel has no gym, so I would walk up the stairs, ride the elevator down, and walk back and forth to work.
