UPDATE:

The police escort isn't available so everyone is just meeting at the Road Home at 11:00am.

Ok, I am hoping the Moderators will see this as worthy of a sticky. This is a pretty cool thing to make a difference and a great opportunity for some positive exposure for the 4 wheel drive community.

From Clay Egan:

Dear Friends & Family,

Starting December 1, I am holding a month long Road Home, blanket & canned food charity drive. Clay Egan Racing is calling out all of his personal friends, family members, rockcrawling, Off-road & 4x4 friends to join with us to make this happen. We will be gathering blankets and canned goods for the whole month of December and then on Christmas Eve day at 11:00A.M. we will be traveling from Energy Solutions Arena in Salt Lake City to the Road Home homeless shelter to deliver hopefully a semi load full of donations.

Our plan is to have 100 + Jeeps, rockcrawlers, 4x4's & Off-road vehicles, (but everyone is encouraged to come, regardless of vehicle) police escorted to the shelter. If you are interested in being a part of this event, can help gather donations, or need me to pick donations up, please message me here at clay@clayeganracing.com or call me 801-450-1831. You can also contact me through my Facebook page!
https://www.facebook.com/clayegan90

Also I want to challenge all of you to donate 1 blanket yourself and 1 box of canned food. That's basically about a $20 donation, if that. My 2nd challenge is for you to ask 10 of your personal friends and family members to do the same and have them get the items to you by December 21. Then all you have to do is contact me and I will arrange to meet you and pick up your donations. This is a very easy task and is very doable!

Our goal is to have at least 100 Jeeps and 4x4's show up on Christmas Eve day at 12:00 P.M. at The Energy Solutions Arena. If everyone gets their 10 donations, that's 1,000 blankets and 1,000 boxes of food! That will make a HUGE impact on the Road Home. Please help us make this happen!!! WE CAN DO IT!!!!

Please follow and share this charity drive and follow us on Facebook for details throughout the month of December! https://www.facebook.com/events/757660530981577/ PLEASE HELP US MAKE THIS SUCCESSFUL! Tell everyone you know!

Also to make a monetary donation click here to donate directly to the road home!

Our ward Christmas drive this year was for the Road Home as well, main focus was on materials to put together school supply and daily use items/hygiene kits in addition to regular gifts, definitely a great program to support.

I'll be there. I do think the time has been changed to 11:00 though, instead of the original Noon.

Saw Clay on Channel 2 this morning talking about this. Should be great time for a great cause!

We should decide on a place with trailer parking and do breakfast beforehand. Anyone know of a good place?

If anyone can't make it and still wants to contribute, pm me or whatever (a lot if you have my phone #). I've got a few things to pickup around town. Glad to haul your stuff down for this.

I just saw this. Sounds like the wife and I are in. I'm working on one of my friends to see if he is interested/available. Are people still planning on taking rigs down even without the escort? If So, did you decide on a meeting place or trailer parking? I'd rather drive in with others if possible, kind of like the original plan.

With the lack of police escort, I am leaving my rigs at home and just taking the stuff we have collected and my family down to help them understand that Christmas is about giving vs. getting :)

That works. Just needed an understanding on how it was going down. Hope I didn't make it sound like I wasn't going if I couldn't drive the Jeep. Just don't need the hassle of loading, trailering, parking, driving a registered-street legal ;) rock crawler downtown if we're not doing it as a group. See everyone at 11:00.

trying to gauge if we'll only need one Jeep or two (hopefully two?)----It'd be incredibly awesome if I had to take the pickup :D

I had a little time a week or so ago and ran through a couple of DI's and Saver stores and bought a bunch of quilts and such. I had a pretty big smile on my face that day. :D
