Rough Labor Day weekend

Both Janeal and I had planned taking Friday off to make a long Labor Day weekend. She had plans to finish some projects around the house and I was going to hit the buggy build hard. Thursday night about 10:30 Eric got home from work and says he has a bad stomach. We suggest Rolaids and get him settled down thinking it's food poisoning. About 2 a.m. he comes back in hurting pretty bad. Janeal goes out and talks to him and gets him feeling better again. About 4:30 he's back in and I get up. I find out the pain is constant and in the lower abdomen. Janeal and Eric head to Emergency, still thinking/hoping it's nothing. I have a golf game planned for 8:00 and start getting ready. I get a call about 7:00 and sure enough his appendix is about to burst. I cancel my game and head down to the hospital and sit with Janeal as his procedure gets put ahead of a lot of scheduled surgeries. Everything goes well and he's out of recovery and up in a room by 11:00 a.m. We spent most of the weekend in the hospital with him and got to bring him home Sunday. He's doing fine but can't go to work or school this week. He can do both next week but can't lift anything heavy for 2 more weeks. Life as a parent is never dull.

btw, good call on the emergency room, an appendix can get ugly fast a couple more minutes of delay can turn a nothing operation into something dagerous.

You didn't read my other post. :p

Thanks all, he's doing better now.

I think you made up the "progress"

That is exactly what happened to my brother a years ago in the middle of the night.

I'm glad he is doing well and hope he has a speedy recovery :)

Thanks all. I'm staying home today with him because Janeal had to go into work. Oh, and Meat, I bet I get more done today on the buggy than you have on your TJ in the last month.

I'll not deny that, but you are like a dude stuck in a snow drift because he never got around to hooking up the power cable for his winch. Where as I'm the dude who doesn't even have a winch, bumper or.... battery.

Hoping for a speedy recovery here for him too. How old is he?
It is hard to know when the right time to head off to the ER is.

He's 17 and yes, it's real hard to know when to take them in. He's doing fine and should be back to school next week. He's cleared for work to, only no lifting anything over 15 lbs. Thanks.
