I've been up there a few times too, though every time it was in the dark. :( Looks pretty though!

For me, an RTT does not make sense for what I want or need. So why am I semi-jealous of all you guys?

I really wish that I could find an RTT that I could afford. I just can not spend that kind of money. I could spend around 500, but I can not seem to find anything even remotely close... Well, not in this country. I found one for 200 pounds in England, and one for $500 in Australia, but then I would have to spend a fortune getting it here... sigh...Such is the life of being too poor... Someday I will be able to save up enough money to get one!

Do the crank open versions keep the crank permanently attached, or do you have to store it someplace? The reason I ask is I would worry about it getting lost of left behind.

Also, the one that Moody has up there, does that have any room for your feet when you sleep? I am 6'5 and I would think that I might end up kicking the roof at night... With that one are there any tensioners that would keep the sides inside when you close it? Also, how do you close it, is there a strap or something attached to the roof?

Thanks. Pretty sure I would not want one of the crank up style, that just looks tedious (to say the least) but the spring loaded ones might be of interest...

Prices vary quite a bit depending on which RTT you look at, My Mombasa RTT only cost $350.00 or so, Plus a few additions, Like the ladder and new cover Im in at $550.00
The real nice RTT's are where its at! But you certainly pay a premium

The crank versions need a separate crank, and can be lost.

The one I have works for me, though at your height you would want to go with the extra long version. As I am only 6' tall, it is perfect for me.

There are elastic cords to pull it in, but I find it is easiest to just have my wife jam the fabric in while I am pulling down on the cord attached to the top.

hey moody, were you up the AF canyon today? I think it was you I saw. (I was on a dirtbike)

I was up there with a couple other guys with cruisers like mine, so it may have been me or the other two guys. We camped up there for the night to get out of the heat...

RTT's can be found in the ~$500 range on a regular basis, just keep your eyes out. Mombasa gen 1's were selling for $350-$550 brand new delivered even when they first came out. Camping Labs and the new Mombasa's can be had for $500-800 for lightly used or new on occasion. Watch eBay, craigslist, etc.

Thanks Moody, and Krut, good info.

When you search on Craigslist is there a way to get the entire craigslist, or just city by city?

I know that I could afford one if it is in useale condition at in the $500 area. I have the money set aside for it, just have to find it. I personally would (I believe) prefer the Mombasa/ARB style tents. I like the fold open style, and I like that I could eventually put two on my jeep to house the kids when they are too big (or too squirmy).

Thanks a lot for the good info, and hey, if anyone happens to see one for sale please let me know! :)
