Rusty axle shafts/joints, what's your fix?

Just went to replace the joints in the wife's dana 30 and even after several days of spraying with liquid wrench and scrubbing as best I can the joints don't seem to want to budge. Popped them on an old worn out 10 ton press and they still wouldn't budge.

What do you guys do in this situation? I don't want to spend the coin on new shafts for the grocery getter and already have the 760 joints for it.

Gotta take the c clips out first! I have had good luck with a torch to heat them up and then press.

C-clips are out but the joints won't budge. Didn't try heating them up yet but that sounds like it could be my next step. Any recommendations on liquids that kill rust? I've used PB blaster in the past but all I had on tap was liquid wrench stuff.

Pick up a less rusted set of axle shafts from the junkyard, swap in new u-joints, then simply replace the old shafts. This entire process is likely faster than the time you already spent on it.

That's what I was thinking of. Anyone recommend a decent pick-n-pull type place?

I like tearapart's prices, picknpull has a bigger yard. You can check there inventory (what vehicles are there) on there web sites to save a wasted trip. But D30's are everywhere in JY's....

There was only one set of 760 shafts and PnP when I went on Saturday and I got them. Tearapart had some left iirc and they're cheaper anyways- $19.99 each
