Hey Just bought another sami and wanted some input on who makes the best OTT steering system for the samurai's. I know its been talked about before but I couldn't find the thread. Also maybe some input on rocky-roads spring over with samurai springs. Just mainly a mild wheeler only want to run 31s and want good street manners. on a budget for sure, hence the samurai. Thanks in advance for the help.

If you are on a budget, you might check out the mercedes steering arms. I see them come up for sale for about $40/pair quite often. I've never run it, I've just read about it a bunch.

I use the merc arms and have no problem. I would use low range or some one else besides rocky road. My buddy ordered his lift from there and still waiting for his u bolts to come in for what is now 3months. petroworks, trail tough, sky manurfacturing, are all better companies to use

Well I think I have decided to go trail tough for all my build parts. This would include their super deluxe spring over, 4.9 transfercase gears, and mighty kong mount. I am going to run on the street and only want to run 31" tires what do you guys think. Any pointers or things to consider?

The mighty Kong is a good choice, as well as your t-case gears. If you go with t-case gears lower than that, there is such a huge jump from high to low range. If these aren't low enough, you can install the diff gears out of trackkicks. They come in 4.30 4.62 and 5.12's.
I run that setup(you mentioned), and have been pleased with it. If I were to do it again however, I'd look at this t-case bucket. It grabs a few more holes in the t-case, to help reinforce it, and keep it together.

Man I love this site you guys are great I think I will wait for that t-case cradle to be in production and go that route, it is about the same money. thanks for all the help and if you guys have pics of your rigs I would love to see em. I just brought the sami home today, it was the 94 on KSL with tracks on it. Good starting point and I love the fuel injection. No tracks though too much money but they were pretty cool.

You made a good call on the FI motor. Stock carbs are very troublesome. I like the grill the 94 has as well. If it is the stock t-case in it, then you all ready have the better front output shaft in it, that the rest of us pay $100 bucks for.

If ya have any more questions, feel free to ask. I'll do my best to answer them.

Here is mine:
87 w/1.6 tracker motor
toy axles with 4.88 and rear arb
4.89 t-case with mighty kong
ruf springs with toy fronts in the rear.
power steering from tracker
homemade twinstick
33's

That is sweet. gets me going just looking at em. I had an 86 with the webber, a header, a cam and 4.16 and the new one is faster and runs better. the 94 has a couple spots of rust but is in good mechanical condition and pretty fair cosmetically. The whole thing is stock except for some longer shackles. I will snap some pics and post up and try to get some during my build. It will be at least a month or two of saving money before I can tear it apart. Thanks for your help and sweet sami.

Thanks!
I will keep an eye on your thread here. It'd be sweet to see some pics of yours. It's nice that you get to start from stock as you can do things just how you want!

Good luck with your project!
