What a DAY! I ended up with over 320 miles on the bike... around 14 hours of riding and several high mountain passes crossed. We (Ben on the XRR and I) rode from GJ (picked up ColoST on the BMW in Delta) and on to Red Mountain Pass, where we split off at Corkscrew Gulch to California Pass, down to Animas Forks, up and over Cinnamon Pass to Lake City for lunch and then up Engineer Pass and down the Alpine Loop and on home!

Ended up running into 2 groups of ADV'ers... some Denver locals that were finishing up a multi-day ride, and a couple of Californians who were riding the TAT... but had some bad luck, ending the ride for one of them in Colorado.

Here's some of my pics...

Wow that's some serious seat time. Great looking pictures.

Thanks Scott! A numb ass was a common problem today...

Looks like an awesome ride. Wish I could get out on longer rides. I got 35 miles today. Haha.

It was great, really fun to ride a few high mountain passes and some amazing places. Weather was perfect, I thought we'd get rained on but we didn't!

Strange, they're hosted at SmugMug. Are you on your home internet or work? Some businesses block 'social' sites and for some reason SmugMug has been placed in that category.

I was on my work computer, now that I'm home I can see them. Killer pics looks like it was a blast. Can't imagine what my ass would feel like after 14 hours on the saddle though. That seat does look a little more comfy than a WR450

14 hours was rough, but not that bad. The worst part is slabbing it 2.5 hours each way on a dual sport... that gets old, fast. My seat is OK, could be better though. I feel fine today... taking it easy though. ;)

Cool ride. How did that XR-R do? I'm still occasionally tempted to get another one.

Jared

The bike did great, it fired up each time with one kick... at 12,000'+! Ben, the rider, is newer to dirt and he dropped it a couple times on the loose stuff, the carb would flood out and he'd be kicking it to clear it out... and doing THAT at high elevation didn't look fun. But in the end, the XRR was fine... seemed like a good bike for this kind of riding. Even seemed to run down the highway well... we were running around 72-76 MPH on the way back from Delta, CO to GJ.

I was just thinking about riding too. But not possible at all. Hopefully soon it'll be warm again in st George. Always love your videos. Almost as much as that foreign guy. You're my hero. ;)

Traveling down South would be nice... I keep hearing Mesquite is nice this time of year, St George would be fun too... if it warms back up like you say!

Glad you like them, just don't start stalking me & my videos... :p

If we could get a group of guys together for sometime this winter we can stay at our place in st. George and ride there or mesquite. I will supply the lodging if someone else wants to find trails and put it together. Ha.
