BLUERIBBON COALITION ACTION ALERT!
Dear BRC Action Alert Subscriber,

Attention Recreationists!

Wade Allinson, one of the founding members of the Sage Riders Motorcycle Club (http://www.sageriders.com/) and a member of the Arapeen Trail Council has just emailed us some important information. The BLM?s Price Field Office has released their Draft Resource Management Plan (DRMP) and Draft Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement. Theses document are available for download at: http://www.blm.gov/ut/st/en/fo/price/planning/Resource_Management_Plan.html.

BLM is taking comment until December 12, 2007. Stay tuned for regular email updates and BRC?s thorough analysis of the new plan.

I have pasted in a copy of Wade?s email below, please take a couple of minutes to read it over. Also, pass this information on to everyone you know.

Thanks in advance for your involvement,

Please forward this to your e-mail lists:

SAN RAFAEL DRAFT RESOURCE MANAGEMENT PLAN RELEASED

(DRMP)

The Price BLM office has released the DRMP for the San Rafael Swell. The comment period is now open and will close on December 12, 2007.

If you enjoy riding the Temple Mountain Single Track System (Five Miles of Hell, Red Trail, Orange Trail, Blue and Green Trails), Devil's Race Track, Eva Conover, Eagle Canyon, Behind the Reef and especially Chimney Rock, we need your help.

The DRMP is VERY concerning in that it does not include a single trail as being open in the Chimney Rock. That's right, given all of the trails that the BLM has permitted race events on, they could not find even an inch of single track trails.

Was the rest of Wades email attached???

Cliffnotes version: The BLM was asked about the excluded trails a year? or more ago when they initially instigated the RMP... they said it was an oversight and they would be added... Everyone was blind-sided when the DRMP came out and nothing was included. I'll be reveiwing the maps to see if any of the 4x4 quality stuff (that I know) is affected. I'm sure you'll see a bunch from U4 as this progresses.

If I can be of some help let me know. Iv'e been all over down there.
I've also got poor quality maps of hundreds of miles of single track trails of the Swell.
Does anyone remember vlj.com ? Victor L Johnson (i believe).
This is where i got my maps years and years ago. This guy could be a wonderful resource with this.
Just a thought.

I would love to see your maps. Are they digital? If paper what size? Are they still available for purchase?

They are paper. I just printed them from his web site.
They were free.
There USGS maps with existing roads and trails, and the five miles of hell trails are added by him.
If I can get some color copies from work I can send them to you.
If there not good for this, there atleast good for route finding down there.

Some one has got to know this guy.

You should google his name, he's done a couple of write-ups on 4x4now I think.

If anyone up in that area knows Rex Maxfield of Huntington.... He would be a great resource as well. He knows the swell VERY well, since he spends most of his time out there and has for the last ~30 years? I bet he also has maps of the area.... If anyone contacts him, just tell him Jerry's boy mentioned his name and etc...
