Is Zombie getting scammed?

Zombie is looking at Yukons and Tahoes for sale locally...

Zombie finds this ad: http://www.ksl.com/index.php?nid=443&sid=0&tab=list/view&ad=2117345
and although Zombie dosn't particularly want another lifted vehicle, this thing is dead sexy and too cheap not to investigate.

Zombie sends a message tot he seller through the classified email system.

Zombie gets reply.

Hello,

You made the right choice ! My car 2003 GMC Yukon is in great shape,no engine problems, damages or hidden defects. It was always garaged and never smoked in.The car was my husband`s as he loved it very much, but he did not enjoy it as he died in a IRAQ 3 month ago. It brings very bad memories to me, I want to get rid of it.I`m a single mother with 2 children and i have problems with money, that`s why i`m selling it so cheap. The mileage is:66,245 and the price is $4200.We will use eBay`s protection program for our safety.I just need your full name and address so i can open a case.(with no further obligation or fees).

Have a nice day!

My scammer sense is tingling, but on the other hand, it's possible that a GI had a hot Latin honey that dropped a couple of anchor babies, and now needs to sell hubbie's toy. The house looks like utah, but it also looks like more than the average soldier could afford. I've replied that I'd like to see and drive the truck before going further... I will update.

Hi,

Thanks for getting back to me.The car is located in Houston TX.I want to use ebay's services for this transaction as it is the safest for both of us.Let me explain how it works:
First of all I will need your full name and shipping address so I can register the transaction with ebay.Once you receive the details from ebay, the car will be reserved for you until you read the details and decide if you want to proceed or not.You will have a 5 days inspection period, after the car arrives at your address to make sure it is as shown in the photos and in good working order. If by any reason the car is not as described or if you find any problems with it, I will arrange to ship it back on my cost. The payment will be sent to ebay and they will hold it until the inspection period is over and you decide if you're going to buy it or not. This way you're not going to pay for something you haven't seen and with the inspection period you can make sure it's as described. If you agree with this terms please reply with your full name and address so we can get the ball rolling.

Thank you ,

This has got to be a scam... ebay doesn't do this for non-ebay sales, right?

Since I'll assume (probably the first mistake) that she is local, why not go check it out in person? Also, maybe she is just foreign so she lacks the ability to clearly speak/write the English language :D One last thing, maybe she meant to list it at 42,000 rather than 4,200. Call and ask. I think you're right to proceed with caution, but since she should be local, it would be fairly easy to debunk. :)

In reading the add it says "THIS YUKON HAS PASSED THROUGH OUR 82 POINT MECHANICAL INSPECTION".. That right here after reading the e-mail you were sent throws up flags.. Sounds like a Big Scam to me. Then it goes into an Autocheck certification and such.. Her e-mails says the thing is in Texas too.

If it's local, I'd go check it out in person and talk to her face to face. If it's for real and you want it, I'd deal with the bank and not ebay.
I've got lots of emails that have the same text format to them. I'd say scam.

Tell her you have a friend in TX and want him to go look at it in person. Bet she won't respond. I did the same thing with a restored 69 Camaro RS SS last year. Remember if its too good to be true, it probably is.

Isn't your Zombie-sense tingling?

There's no way it's real.

Also, talking in the third person is funny. :p
