Scampy the XJ
Ottawa Jeep Club Wheeler
- Location
- Canuckistan
Hey folks. I stumbled across this forum last week, and want to introduce myself (and my rig)
I'm traveling to Moab the last week of April for 8-10 days with my Father and my XJ. This is part of a 40th Bday wish a few years in the making.
It's a 2000+ mile trip so finding folks from the local club I wheel with is difficult given the distance and cost, so I'll be looking to meet up with other travellers or locals to wheel while in the area.
I've picked up the Guide book by Charles Wells, so I'm set for most of the trail locations etc.
Scampy's an '00 XJ w. ~5", 35's, locked, armoured, winch etc. Former DD, now pretty much my street legal () plated and insured weekend toy. We run typical Eastern trails in Ontraio with the Ottawa Jeep Club (OJC) - a mixture of rocks, tight hilly forest trails w. lots of roots, dirt, and from time to time (barf) mud. I don't have a straight panel on it, and I don't exactly treat it like a lady so I expect to run all but the most difficult trails (ie AreaBFE type stuff?) I'm not known for shying away from body or mechanical damage so it is likely I'll be baited into pushing the limits as I get comfortable with the terrain.
Anyhoo.... We plan on arriving Sunday April 26th and staying thru May 6th (or so) and I'd love to wheel with people that know the land so to speak. When y'all make the trip to Canada, we can return the favour and show you what Eastern Ontario/Western Quebec has to offer.
Here's a shameless pose from last summer. There's a fairly decent chance there will be a chop and hybrid cage by spring should weather (20F this morning) and motivation not get side tracked by work and family stuff.
Cheers from Canuckistan!
