School me on handheld CB radios.

I hope I'm not beating a dead horse but does anyone here have experience with handheld CB radios? What are your impressions? Could I spend a little extra and get something really good or are they pretty much the same? I mostly use my CB for trail rides and such. Not looking forward to hard mounting a CB in the 100 (nowhere convenient to put it) plus having the ability to take it from vehicle to vehicle would be really nice... Anyway thanks,

If you plug them in to a real antenna, then they work great. Otherwise they're REALLY limited in range and power. I'm talking more than 200 feet and I can't hear people.
