I purchased 5/16x125 amsteel and it broke on a wall I was trying the rope out on, called the place of purchase they agreed to fix after photos were sent and what type of winch set up I had,WITCH WAS 9.5 WARN.
THEY TOOK 5 WEEKS TO SPLICE IT TOGETHER AND SWORE IT WOULD BE STONGER THAN THE ROPE IT SELF .
I wrapped my drum and the frist time I use it again it broke in another spot.THAT WAS WINCHING A FULL SIZE TRUCK OUT OF MUD UNDER POWER .
have'nt had good luck with heavy winching with 5/16 going back to 3/8 @100 foot or maybe 1/2 if I stay with rope.
