My buddy is looking for a carb for his scout, i was wondering if a carb off a chevy will fit? They are both 2 barrels.

I had to rebuild my Scout ll carb on the 345 V8 about every 5 or 6 years until I lowered the float and then no problems with the stock carb. My son-in-law put a Holly on his and had nothing but problems. He then used an after market throttle body and his problems went away. No experience with a GM swap.

I've heard of a lot of people using Ford Motorcraft 2100 carbs, but not GM carbs. Could work, but might not be optimal. The CFM rating for the Holley 2300 on a 304/345 is around 375, which is below what most 350's would use.

I have a modern Holley 2300 (center float) on one of my Scouts and I did all the mods to it similar to the 4-bbl truck avenger version. It works great.

It has the 304, he has a holley on it now but it runs real bad and the screw for the float is striped and gas leaks out there. The carb i was looking at is a truck advenger and is on a chevy 350.

Truck Avenger is a 4b carb so would need an adapter or a change on the intake. There is a guy selling a 670 Truck Avenger on the forum but that is probably to big for an IH 304.

Not well. Pretty much any 4bbl carb is going to be too much for the 304. Get a Holley 2300 or find a Motorcraft 2100.
