~Sexton Offroad 6th Annual Poker Run 2013~

Awesome Offroad Shop with so much to offer, Abundance of sweet rigs and a great bunch of people with smiles on their faces; hands down last Saturday was a great turnout this year and the sweet BBQ would knock your socks off!!!

To start off, HUGE thanks to Dusty and Laura Sexton for having everyone out to their place in Kamas. I think I can speak for everyone in saying it was a super good time!!!

Another awesome time out at the Sexton Offroad open house/customer appreciation day! It was great to see all the awesome rigs and the day couldn't have been better! We started out all meeting at the shop where we grabbed some coffee and juice to go with our morning pastries and fruit before having a little drivers meeting about what to expect for the fun filled day!

I wasn't going to drive the stickies down the road this year so I took the trailer down to the Kamas car show and quickly proceeded over to the group where everyone took their spots out front of the fairgrounds to show off all the sweet 4x4's. Everyone went to check out the car show after that... and although it was a bit overcast, everyone meandered around checking out all the sweet rides! I couldn't have asked for a better way to pass the time before a trail ride, all these rat rods seem to make me smile seeing the cool custom mods!

Everyone gathered and we headed out of town to go hit the trails. We headed up the Mirror Lake Hwy to a trail head of leaders picking (close to soapstone). The trails provided us a chance to start the actual poker run's first draw. Later when we get back to the shop for the BBQ there will be prizes of all sorts for winning hands. I must say, the views were amazing and the weather was super nice out too. We stopped a few times to draw cards and to get out to mingle for a few minutes and take in the views. It was filled with endless amusement of UT back country!

We made it to the top of the mountain to find a very sweet lookout and this is where we broke out some lunch and misc snacks...

We worked our way back down the mountain enjoying the views, and drawing again for our poker hands. We all made it down to the base of the canyon just fine dreaming of the sweet smelling BBQ that was in store for us! I couldn't wait for my buddies to get a chance to put a whooping the rock gardens out front of the shop! It was super cool to see everyone step up and do a little wheeling in 4 low. Because Dusty enjoys the racing scene so well, he decided to keep the racing theme going amongst the crowd and laid out a timed race course! There was 5 of us that decided to step up and give it a whirl for the chance to having bragging rights to the little course. Two box bronco's battled for 4th and 5th place (Richard and Steve respectively) while I took 3rd in a FJ40, Jeff from Bush Eaters took 2nd with a CJ buggy and Cameron with a built Genright YJ Jeep took the top spot on the podium that day!

What a show, its never the same when someone says your on the clock! Not to be outdone in style was a famous box bronco driven by Steve StClair who came out with a new cat scratched paint job!!! After all that excitement it was time we headed into the shop for a banquet style BBQ dinner and to check out what all the poker hands were. I didn't stay too much longer, but did hang out to run the crawling course a few more times and grab some cake. Once again I'd like to say thanks to the Sexton family and all the helpers for being awesome hosts (oh and HAPPY B-DAY to Laura, who's Dusty's better half, your b-day cake was great glad to have been there to help ya celebrate it)!!!GOPR2271.JPG

As posted before a huge thanks to the Dusty and Laura for making this happen. It is a great event. I didn't even bring my heep due to job complications and I still had a great time. A special thanks to everybody that let me ride along Saturday, Cameron, Eddie, and Jeff. I only have a few pics from my phone:
