Shock Questions

Needing to put longer shocks on a Sami a guy at work has. We used the forklift to lift the tire to flex it for measurements. When lifting one side we measured 15-1/4" and 19". Lifting the other side we got 15-1/2" and 19-1/4". When looking for new shocks do I need to go an inch shorter and longer just to be safe? Or even more than that? Just need something super cheap so we want one that's available not custom made.

Not often wrong. Never quite right.

I ran Doetsch on a previous 4Runner. Nothing to write home about, but you couldn't beat the price. I think I bought them for 1 inch longer than my measured travel.

Coming from a desert racing background, Im a big fan of limit straps and bump stops all set up correctly. I would much rather have a little less clean travel, then max travel and beat on parts. If im understanding you correctly, I think your on the right track, but might consider some safety measures to ensure you dont over extend things.

I agree with this. Make sure your new shocks are sized properly so that they don't act as your limiting strap or your bumpstop.
