We did that a few months ago with a peice about half that thick. The AR and 30-06 went right through like it was nothing, it stopped the 45 though.

A buddy of mine and I went shooting a while back at some 3/8 plate to see what would go through. We learned quickly that Handguns wouldn't and Rifles would. Then we got out the Blackpowder rifles. The slug didn't go through but unlike smokless rounds that cleanly passed through the slug threw that plate about 20 feet. Makes you appreciate pre-smokeless powder wars. Ouch.

More info on the gun. If my history is correct on this Mike Dillon is the inventor and the company was Dillon Aero. I believe that GE owns the rights to it now
