I have Sirius. All I can tell you is it's nice to have 180 (or whatever it is) stations, even in Moab! Kinda like Satelite TV though, how many freakin stations do you really use??

Don't know what it costs a year, since mine is free for the first year. If the offerings are the same, I'd just go with the cheaper one.

I also have XM through my direct TV as well and sirius is light years ahead.

XM has much better equipment and noticably better reception. However, I prefer Sirius' programing to XM's.

it's 6's. I have/had both and basically sell it for a living ;)

Sirius you pay more, but have less commercials. None of the music stations have commercials at all, only the news/talk/comedy/etc do.

Sirius is also coming long ways on their equipment. I was in Flying J the other day looking at some of their 'tronics, and they have a Sirius reciever that will buffer up to 45 minutes of radio for about $120.

I have an old school reciever, one of the first Kenwood's, and there is no buffer and I will loose radio. Sometimes out in the middle of nowhere, other times in McD's drive through or gas stations. Granted, my antennae is not mounting outside of my car, so that could be part of it; it's sitting in my hatchback, ontop of my amps - which is under glass and a hatch cover. I have no yearly dues, as I bought a lifetime membership for $299 when I bought the system.

I did surf their site a while back, and I believe the lifetime dealio is $499 now days. 500 bones is just too much for me to toss down on a technology that I think is going to be rapidly changing (like cellular). Seem's like it was $119 a year just to re-up though.

They are the same price per month. None of the music stations have commercials on either (actually, i've heard tale that XM has gone back to putting some commercials on osme of their music stations but since I don't have any of my XM stuff hooked up right now I can't verify this)

true, and it only took them 18 months after XM came out with that to get their own on the market--and it's bigger, has terrible mounting options, and is harder to read.

that is old school. the newer technology won't get much better reception, but if you put the antenna on the roof it will do a little better. It will still cut out at gas stations and such, and in heavily wooded areas. XM doesn't really have that problem. If sirius ever becomes competitive with their equipment they will probably start to catch up to XM's subscriber base pretty quickly. XM comes out with something, and then 12-18 months later sirius comes out with something similar that is almost as good.

Is your lifetime membership for your lifetime or for the lifetime of the product? May want to read the fine print ;)

If you're a Serius dealer, how bout PM'ing me some contact info? I need to re-up mine soon, and Serius want's to know the name and creditcard it was charged to, reciever number, blah, balh blah. Since I know none of the above, I'm going to have to start from point one I think.

I believe the lifetime thing I have is for the life of the reciever. Which is fine now, because I've had it for over 4 years and at $15-20 a month (what ever it is), I've well paid for it. I will admit when I first bought it, it was a huge gamble. My main concern was 'what If I don't like it'?

As for the technology, I could really care less. It is kind of frustrating when you are out in the open area and signal drops, but I REALLY hate commercials! And I would be VERY pissed to pay for radio and still have commercials. All I expect from mine is to give me un interrupted service (which it does 98% of the time), show me who sings what song, title of the song and 100% no commercials. I think all in all Sirius has exceeded my expectations.

When I bought my Sirius, I actually had an XM ready deck. In order to buy the XM reciever it was going to cost as much or more than buying a complete Kenwood Sirius system. That is the reason I have Sirius and not XM. However, the first time I heard a commercial on XM, I would have been VERY pissed and canceled my service. It's the same thing as goign to the movies and seeing commercials (not previews, previews I can live with). I used to go to the show just about every week, now it's about twice a year. They already charge enough, I shouldn't have to sit through commercials, too.

Sirius. Why? Radio margaritaville on chanel 31. Its worth the monthly fee just to hear all of the jimmy buffett concerts brodcast live. What more do you need?

Uh, there's no commercials on any of the music channels on XM. I don't know who started that rumor, but they simply aren't there. At least not on any of the cool channels (the ones I listen to). There are some commercials on the live talk channels. You can't do a live radio show for four hours straight without taking a break. So they kinda have to have commercial breaks. Chad said it all up there. Sirius doesn't have O & A. I listen to channel 202 more than any other channel. I know there are several O & A listeners lurking around RME. ;)

XM is the way to go...it has The Joint Radio Station....Only XM has a All Reggae Station like The Joint...If Siruis had one then I would get siruis otherwise stick with XM.

Doesn't Sirius also have less parental controls than XM? Sirius doesn't bleep or etc any of their music, which is what I like. Nothing worse than listening to Buckcherry and having it censored! :D

I had XM for 2 years. And I would agree, O&A are worth the subscription alone. They kept me awake many a late night. When I got my new truck, a dodge, it came with free Sirius for a year, which is sweet... I think Cody is right about the the XM equipment being far better. O&A are soooooo much better then Stern. But free is the best of all. And the music stations on Sirius have better programing. I am going to figure out how to run both at the end of the free year, after all gotta have my O&A. :)

:rofl: Well, I want to hear about that crazy b*tch and how she f's him :D It's like watching porno's, and them never showing anything more than the girls boobs or the guys butt. Don't get me wrong, a nice butt, er boob shot is ok once in a while, but 90 minutes worth? Eh :-\ ;)
