unfortunately, I don't have the room to run a completely flat one across the frame rails. It needs to have a little bit of bend to drop the tranny mount a little. SukaB has some prebent material I would like to use, but he is out of town right now.

unfortunately I am thinking I will be in the same situation...right now my tranny t-case adapter hangs about 1" below the rails:(

The bottom of my poly tranny mount is even with my tranny pan, so I need a little room for movement, but they are both flush with the frame. How much room do you think I should leave between the tranny pan and the skid plate? 1"?

I would venture to say that 1"-2" would prolly be enough...it also depends on what mounts you are using...if they are both (engine and tranny) poly (stiffer than rubber) than you could prolly get away with 1" but if your engine mounts are rubber I would prolly give yourself a little more...

I would say 1" would be good spacing for movement.

there are two versions of flat:

1. flat across the bottom of the frame rails

2. flat with no obstructions but hanging down a little (like jeremy).
