I have a JB Conversions SYE kit in the crawler now.

Im looking to purchase another one in the near future for the wifes truck. What else is out there as far as brands and pricing?

This would be for a Chevy 241 t-case.

I want quality with a good price. JB conversions runs $340.

You can use a 90-91 Dodge 241 and combine it with your chevy 241 input parts to get a low cost SYE. I found one at the picknpull for less than $100 on their 30% off sale.

I have a Tera SYE (the Extreme Short version) and it seems to be a good quality piece. It installed easily, with no leaks or other problems. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it, but I don't know what the technical differences are between different manufacturers and models.

The Tera doesn't fit the 241. 231 only.:)

I can't remember where I read it (so this is internet hearsay,) but I'm pretty sure the Dodge 241s are not compatible with the chevy ones. IIRC, The shift rail mounts in a different location on the dodge case. You can't just bolt the back half of a Dodge case onto a chevy. You can do that with a 208, though.

This doesn't matter to chevycrew since his is a driver side drop, but I thought I'd throw it out. Correct me if I'm wrong Dave.

drive line direct or some company like that makes a flange to make the 241 a non slip yoke kinda like a hack and tap , just drill out the output shaft and tap, install new flange and install bolt.

the flange was right at 100 bucks and works for ford, chevy, yota, and suzuki drive line bolt patterns

If I do it, Ill go all the way and do the SYE kit, I dont like the idea of a flange hanging off 6" of shaft in the back. The 5 or 6" of added driveline will benefit this truck.

Dave, did you get this all worked out and put together?

Yes it is all together and on my commando project behind a 700r4. I used the passenger drop version of the chevy and dodge 241. You use the dodge case and swap in the chevy input shaft. I also found that if you omit one mounting stud on the dodge case it allows the case to be clocked flat on the 700r4. I will most likely machine the adapter to pick up the missing mount stud.

Is the 241 only available in the '90-91? From what I'm reading around the web, it seems like they go from about '88-89 to '93? Something specific about the '90-91 that makes the swap better?

How's the clocking? Similar/same to the Chev 241?

FWIW, we're trying to figure out what to do with a 241 behind a 700R. We've got a 10 spline GM and 23 (?) spline Dodge case that are both 208s and the Chev 241. Just need some kind of driveline length on the cheap/easy.

If I remember the 90-91 dodges had the passenger drop fixed yoke output 241 that I wanted. They may also be available in other years but I would have to check. The clocking on the dodge case is different than the chevy case but does allow a more level clocking by omitting one bolt or drilling out one hole on the adapter. You have the correct chevy case that you can use the input from, you just need the dodge case to get the fixed output. If you are trying to get a drivers side drop there may be other options.
