small AC units? Heaters?

So I've pretty much decided to ditch the dash on the Blazer so Robby can make me nice strong A-pillars. Got looking at it, and the underdash HVAC crap is huge and ridiculous. So. I'm going to try and make it smaller.

Has anyone come across some perfect factory stuff that fits the bill? Ideally there is a.. say.. Mojave heater-sized factory heater, and some small AC setup I can use. I am not really looking too hard at keeping the AC to be honest, but it's nice if it's there. *shrug

maybe some small-car stuff?

UNSTUCK

But stuck more often.
I don't know, I think it would be far more lazy to trim the dash. Redoing the HVAC would be a lot of work.

I don't think you'd find a smaller a/c set up then the cj/yj units. Then go with the Mojave for heat.

Maybe you should just trim the dash around your cage you lazy bum!

eh, I did think about that, but there is a ton of stuff on the driver's side that isn't all that easily moved: namely big bundles of wiring harness. :(

I've decided to not worry about the AC at all, just heat. So I think that's easily solved. :D

So are you saying that if the dash goes away, the wiring goes with it?

No, but it can be moved to an alternate location, which is not as easily done with the dash in place.. and there's some factory ductwork that is pretty bulky too.

If you can find an A/C unit from a Scout II, the in cab piece mounted below the dash as a separate assembly. Another up side to the Scout II A/C system is the York compressor used with it.

Like the j**p heaters, I got a unit from JC Whitney for about $150. Comes with a separately mounted switch and customizable ducting/vents. Works awesome and is very compact. Just run your coolant to it, give it power, and done.

What about the heater unit out of a 1st gen toyota, small and compact vertical but could be mounted horizontal I think..
I will be putting one in my buggy.
