Snakes "mostly" don't bother me. Sometimes they do though.

Jumped out of my truck and almost stepped right on this rattler a few years ago. Gave me a pretty good little scare for a second, but no harm no foul, so even though I was armed to the teeth, after I got doen playing with him, he got a pass...

I hope that camera was on the end of a stick! Cool video.

I saw one about 3.5 feet long Sunday morning pass by the open door of my tent out at Gold Bar, I tapped his tail with my foot to get him to move faster.

Kill it, skin it, throw it on the BBQ and find out if it taste like chicken.

Rattle snake does.

The eastern version does, too. :D I've eaten a couple. Snake is like, wicked easy to clean, I wish all animals were basically tubes of meat LOL Takes like 5 seconds to clean 'em.

i kept one i caught out by lil' moab for over a year and he would eat all the mice i threw his way. he never once hissed at me or showed any sign of aggression, his name was carl and he was . i later let him go because he got too big and ate too much :D

i see no reason to kill a snake unless it is endangering others. ie if a rattler was hellbent on being in my campsite i would try moving it but if it was too dangerous i would kill it. this is not because i had one as a pet, after all my wife had a rabbit for a pet (and he was awesome) but i still bunny blast often. but then again i have never been scared of snakes because my dad raised me right
my mom on the other hand is terrified

As tacoma mentioned, cobras have round pupils, and my pythons that I used to have had cat eye pupils... this wives tale just don't work.

Is it true for snakes found in the US? I have been told this countless times and always thought it was true here in the US. To the best of my knowledge King Cobras and Pythons are not indigenous to the US.

I agree, I was also raised to respect life and only kill when needed, my family are hunters but only to put meat in the freezer and not for sport.

... and surprisingly, it was Kiel with the innuendo. I am so shocked. :D

That was a softball, underhand, I'll grant you that. :D Interestingly, after hearing all the stories, it really did taste most like chicken. I mean, it tasted likesnake, but until you eat snake, you can't really describe it except as sort of a gamey, stringy chicken. I liked it. Suuuuuper easy to clean, it's like God WANTS you to eat them. hahahah

I am not sure.. I think coral snakes might have round pupils too.. and they're indigenous. Triangle-headed snakes in the US are generally poisonous, too... I'm trying to remember if water mocassins have round pupils. Hmm. If only there was some huge repository of images that could show me LOL..

hahha ok, nope: water mocassins have slits. Not sure about coral snakes, they're all just black eyes in the pics I've found so far.

Brilliant! Lets just kill every snake we see. Leave them alone and walk away if you don't like them.

Lighten up. I wouldnt kill it unless it attacked me. I wasnt serious. If I killed everyone I saw my boy would be mad. He has a Corn snake in his room. The only way it stays alive is because I thell him to feed it every week.
Its pretty freaky to watch them eat. The unhinging jaw is strange!

Okay, from now on let it be known that I generally don't have a clue what I am saying. And if you are even thinking about listening to me don't. I am probably just blowing smoke. Stupid old wives tale anyways.
