Snowmobiling W. Yellowstone

SO I won a 2 night stay, and one day snowmobiling for two in W. Yellowstone.

I've been trying to find some maps online of the area there, but haven't had much luck. While talking with the snowmobile place they told me about some of the cool places to go, like some lodge in the mountains (that you can only get to by snowmobile) you can stop for lunch at.

My goal is to have atleast a plan of where to go before getting there. I've never been snowmobiling, and my wife is prego (checked with Dr said it was ok) so nothing to crazy. Probably going to go around the 1st-2nd of Feb.

Any help would great thanks.

I used to live in West Yellowstone, and it's the snowmobile capital of the world. I'd just go up there and hear what the locals have to say.

They said they would give us a map of the trails when we picked up the snowmobile. Just wanted to have a game plan, and not waste time.

we have been a couple times. it is a blast. we rode into old faithful and back the firs half of the day, then we played around w. yellowstone for the rest of the day. this is my favorite way to see the park. it is absolutly amazing to see it blanketed in snow. if you decide to go in the park, make sure you take the fire hole canyon drive. seeing the water fall all frozen up was cool.

I wish we could go in the park, but the company that gave me the trip said we only get a 2 stroke sled. I guess you have to have a 4 stroke to go in the park you also have to have a guide which is not part of the package. I asked for a 4 stroke but they said no.

Yeah, the 4 strokes are in high demand just for the park access. Wonder if they'd let you upgrade? Even if they don't there are so many spectacular rides outside the park, you'll still have a blast. Wish I could help with where to go, but it's been a long time.

I'm sure will have a blast running around W. Yellowstone. They did say we could pay more to get a 4 stroke, but will make due staying out of the park. We can either have two 2 stoke one seaters or one 2 stroke two seater. My wifes preger so I don't think she wants her own sled.:p

when we went the second time, we went with a pregnant chick.

convince her to get her own sled. it will be much more comfortable on her. the 2 seater sleds are great if you are riding with a kid, not very comfortable with two full grown adults. especially if she has a prego belly.

hell where are you going to sled if you can't go into the park? the west gate is right there by the gas station.... I do know that the park had to klimit the amount of people tghat could go into the park at anyone time so they made it so that you needed a guide to go in... west yellowstone is my favoritie place to go no matter the time of season... 14 miles into the park is madison junction camp grounds... they use to have hot pot that everyone skinny dipped in but then they took it out cause they didn't want a bunch of naked hippy freaks running aroudn the camp ground...

but it was nice back when it was there... on a full moon you could watch all the animals come down to drink from the river while you sat in the hot pots...

take a ride over to Two top in island park. It will take a day to get there and back but well worth the view.

on the way back stop at alice's for some pie! it's the cafe at lionshead resort.

or ride up to lake hebgen and play around there.
